I have always liked "Trans-X"'s "Living on Video" which should be here as well.

i love 80s synth pop, those were the days

I posted a few Naked Eyes songs earlier this year (http://www.musicbanter.com/pop/48128...ml#post1016025). Tonight I was listening to some more that take me back to the '80s.

None of their original songs are as good as their cover of "Always Something There To Remind Me," in my opinion. However, the slightly melancholy, all-is-not-well feeling of many of them appealed to me then. For example:

Naked Eyes - "Burning Bridges"
I like these lines: "Burning bridges as you pass, you find yourself alone at last. All your enemies are conquered. Is your life the one you wanted?"



Naked Eyes - "Emotion in Motion"



Naked Eyes - "A Very Hard Act To Follow"



I also liked:

Naked Eyes - "The Time is Now"
A pretty song with fun, quirky elements.

I disagree, I actually like at least one quite a lot more.

Naked Eyes' "I Could Show You How" is okay, but I feel it sounds a little lonely and chilly. I definitely prefer "Always Something There To Remind Me!" :)

Do any of you remember the British synthpop duo, Yazoo, formed in late 1981 by former Depeche Mode songwriter Vince Clarke (synthesizer) and Alison Moyet (vocals) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yazoo_(band))? Clarke eventually formed Erasure, one of my favorite synthpop groups. I hadn't realized he was involved in all three groups.

Today a line from a sweet song I remember liking years ago suddenly ran through my head while I was unloading the dishwasher. I only recalled a fragment of the melody and these lyrics..."All I wanted was the love you gave...(something something something)...only you."

Thanks to Google, those lyrics led me to the song, "Only You," and I learned that it was by a duo called Yazoo. I also learned, to my surprise, that the main singer was a woman! All these years I thought the following song was sung by a man! :D

I just looked up Trio again to learn that they did use real drums and a real guitar, although not in all songs, in addition to the illustrious Casio VL-1. I realized I'd never heard any of Trio's music besides "Da Da Da."

So I decided to listen to more of Trio's songs and found out I like them! Some aren't technically synthpop, though. So do I post them here? Or do I not? I think I'll go find a spot for more Trio songs in the New Wave section or Neue Deutche Welle thread (if one exists).
