fun.
fun. is a relatively new project headed by Nate Ruess of The Format. The album (titled Aim and Ignite) was released in late August of 2009. It's incredibly fun (dohoho), clear, jangly, overstuffed and harmonic pop music. It's like, exactly what I imagine pop to be. It seems really theatrical to me, too. Sounds like Queen + The Apples in Stereo on broadway. Maybe even a Disney soundtrack done right.
fun. - Walking the Dog fun. - At Least I'm Not As Sad (As I Used to Be) fun. - Be Calm If anyone wants a link, let me know. |

I liked the last song, and the second song was alright. Mostly the music seems a little TOO perky and sunshiney, but that not saying anything bad about the band...it just doesn't mix with my personal taste in music. They obviously have some talent there. Are alot of their songs more like the first one or the last one?

Oh man, There Is No Enemy, nice. (Your sig)
Well, their songs are all similar to those, like... Theatrical and overstuffed pop music that sounds like Queen and The Apples in Stereo have a really friendly baby cousin. The songs don't necessarily sound particularly similar to any one of those specific tracks, you know? |

I love this album. Seriously, their name says it best. Oddly enough I have seen these guys in concert way before they became fun, all playing on the same bill as Steel Train, Anathello, and The Format. I think this album probably gets top five playing on my ipod at this point.

First one at the beginning, I dont like, then it gets better, then I don't like it again
just to cheesy for my liking. 2nd ones a big improvement, still too chirpy. 3rd don't like it too much, it's alright, just not as good as the 2nd but all in, isn't bad, wouldnt be my first choice, but it's one of those ones you need to be in the mood for, for me anyways

what the hell? I sent Andrew Dost (multi-instrumentalist of fun. and many other indie bands) a friend request on Facebook ages and ages ago, and I saw he kept adding people that were not me. Eventually I figured I'd send him a message, not expecting a response:
"Dude, you know I love you man. It's hurting my feelings to see you add people as your friends while ignoring my friend request. Give it to me straight, Andy: am I Facebook friend material?" I didn't just get a response, I got a full page! "hey jamie - i'm sorry. i just get freaked out now to add people i don't know somewhat well in real life. i've had some strange experiences on here, and people harassing people i know. not that i think i'm a mega-star or anything, quite the contrary, i'm glad for any tiny shred of recognition, and it thrills me to no end that people want to be my friend on here, listen to my music, etc... but i guess since i didn't immediately recognize your name, and we had no mutual friends, i ignored it. honestly it's something i think about a lot. i hate not having personal contact with everybody that friend requests me, but right now i have 111 unread messages in my inbox, and 61 friend requests. i'm sorry to have hurt your feelings, but sometimes i just click ignore if there are no mutual friends and i don't remember the name (i'm good with faces but have trouble with names). so basically - i didn't mean any harm. anybody i've friended lately has been a high school friend, someone i've played shows with, people who have done photography for me, etc... so while it may appear that i'm adding random names, i'm keeping within circles of friends. all this being said - you now know quite a bit about me, which makes us friends. i hope you'll accept my request and that it won't seem like i'm just friending you so i don't seem like a ****head. i promise i'm actually not (usually!). anyway. sorry if that's more information than you wanted, but i hope it at least explains the 'ignore' in a way that makes sense. sincerely, Andrew. " New favorite celebrity? I think so.
