Michael Jackson

ok, i generally for rock music and whatever, but ive recently been getting into some michael jackson, what do you guys think? ignore the whole him being strange thing, and the pedophile thing, and the turning white thing, and lets talk about his music.....bille jean kicks arse!

pianolp325 01-20-2005 08:54 PM

micheal jackson is some good music. hes going to jail but he has some really good songs.

nothing_special 01-20-2005 10:17 PM

Thriller was an awesome album. It does't matter about his personal life, all that matters is he has made some good music.

Urban Hat€monger ? 01-21-2005 03:47 PM

Off The Wall is a work of genius , no matter what you might think of the guy & far far superior to Thriller.

I agree 100% . People think it unusual that its one of my favorite albums, because its so different from what i normally listen to and because MJ is mainly associated with the crappy pop hes produced in the past 20 years. But from beginning to end the whole album is a masterpiece.

Henrah 01-22-2005 05:59 AM

The Bad album aint bad either.

yeah, michael jackson spurned crappy pop, but he himself was a great songwriter etc

ZutonFever840 01-22-2005 04:28 PM

:offtopic: Pictures of Michael Jackson scare the living **** out of me!

Michael Jackson

Does enybody still listen to Michael Jackson? I have been listening to him since I was 10 years old and I will continue to!

right-track 10-19-2007 11:40 AM

Did he tell you to say that?

jackhammer 10-19-2007 12:18 PM

I did'nt listen to him in the first place.

Night_Lamp 10-20-2007 05:13 AM

Creepyness aside, it's hard to argue that Jacko's not a talented guy. He can dance, he can sing, and who can ever forget the video for 'Thriller'. There was nothing like it at the time.
I'm not really a fan, but give respect where it's due.

Aleksandroz 10-20-2007 09:35 AM

Thanks.
Precisely. Aside his behavior, his music is very good! But, this is my opinion..

anticipation 10-20-2007 09:41 AM

His song with Paul McCartney, "The Girl Is Mine", is a really good song.

other than that,
he sucks.

jackhammer 10-20-2007 03:33 PM

Prince>Michael Jackson. Sign O The Times defined the 80's more succinctly than Thriller/Bad.

Night_Lamp 10-20-2007 07:05 PM

No argument on Prince's talent, very weird mofo, but he can play guitar like EVH. Man that guy can shred when he wants to!

holdyoualways 10-21-2007 09:01 AM

i still like him
back in the day before he went really crazy with the surgury & all the whacko 30 minute long super expensive videos, he was pretty good
they dont call him the king of pop for nothing

Tamrah 10-21-2007 09:49 AM

I Love Michael jackson & Yes I still listen to Him
I am looking forwatd to His new album!

prince can play like 15 instruments. he is INCREDIBLY talented... just happens to be pretty far out there. i remember when he did this interview about how he doesn't believe in time and all this other nonsense, quite a peculiar cat. he could not have got away with what he did had it not been the 80's.

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-21-2007 02:39 PM

Jackson has to thank Quincy Jones for most of his success musically.

Prince did it all himself.

jackhammer 10-21-2007 05:35 PM

Prince has made a lot of errors in his career, but he has more talent in his left finger than Jackson entire does. The commercial machine is a wonderful thing. Why do they not champion Jackson anymore?

sleepy jack 10-21-2007 05:37 PM

Jackson is a pedophile so...

ProggyMan 10-21-2007 05:40 PM

He's certainly fun to dance to. But yah, he's not exactly a prodigous musical talent.

Peadophile. I was being ironic. I was pertaining to the fact that a lot of Jackson's success is media led, put his talent into proper perspective. He rarely writes his own songs. Has limited instrumentation and his vocal range is limited. Why he is held up as a great artist is frankly terrifying. He can dance and recognise a good tune, but how many of you have listened to SIGN O THE TIMES? If you are serious music fans, you can see how good pop music can be.

CalebG 10-22-2007 02:15 AM

Michael Jackson, whether guilty or not guilty, has had more influence on pop music than any other artist in the past 30-40 years. He was around forever and is undoubtably the top male artist of the past couple of decades. It is hard to believe that one CD- "Thriller" could possibly sell 25,000,000 copies in ONE COUNTRY ALONE. Most artists would die just to sell 25 million worldwide. He is an amazing dancer. My favorites of his are "Billie Jean", "Smooth Criminal", "Black Or White" and "Scream" w/ Janet Jackson.

Heinz sell millions of cans of baked beans everyday.

Does that mean baked beans are the height of haute cuisine ?

Aleksandroz 10-23-2007 02:55 PM

Nice words CelebG ;) whose music do you listen, is matter of your choice, but to look objectively, who had major impact on music in 80 – 90’s..
I love Avil Lavinges music, but I will not insist that she is the greatest female singer!

Beans – 5$ haute cuisine – for example 20$
Michael Jackson CD – 20 $ Prince CD – 20 $

You can't compare two different sistems...

Urban Hat€monger ? 10-23-2007 02:58 PM

Prince gave his last album away for the price of a newspaper , so yes I can

Bacause noone want's to buy him :usehead:

sleepy jack 10-23-2007 03:24 PM

Totally which is why everyone applauded him for doing it and people who didn't even like Prince went out and bought the album...

Well lets have a look at the difference shall we.

Neither man is anywhere near as popular as they were in the 80s , however ...

Prince - Always recording , writing , producing , always wanting to do his own thing , even against his record companies wishes. Last couple of albums have been a huge improvement over anything he's done over the last 10/15 years. Recently sold out 21 shows in London alone.

Jackson - Sh*ts out another greatest hits compilation because he's skint.

SarahC 10-24-2007 10:14 AM

Yeah I totally still listen to MJ. He is awesome. Although I didn't really become a fan until I was about 19. Wierd huh?

SarahC 10-24-2007 10:15 AM

Btw I'm 23 now so i'm talking 4 years ago, not the 80's or anything hehe.

Definitely.

That said, I am a fan of Michael Jackson (the music, not the man) and recent events have had no effect on that.

I really liked You Rock My World. Didn't seem to go down too well with some of his hardcore fans.

pheurton 10-27-2007 12:05 PM

Billie Jean was a great song to pass the time with when running over civilians in vice city, but apart from that Lionel richie hasn't been black since the commodores.

djchameleon 10-28-2007 12:23 AM

I just wanted an excuse to post this......so why not in this thread

Not a good comparison at all. Because in the music industry, record and concert ticket sales are everything.
