I don't know if I brought this up before. But since theres some hardcore Jackson fans here, I wonder if any of you can shed some light on this.

Theres this urban legend that Michael Jackson actually wrote the music for the video game Sonic the Hedgehog 3, but he wasn't credited because of the child molestation controversy.

I think it's true, because several of Jacksons session musicians were credited in the game. And the music sounds VERY Michael Jacksony, though it could just be a tribute.

For example, the end credits to the game sound exactly like Stranger of Moscow, a song Jackson didn't release until a few years after the game. Who Is It sounds almost identical to the Ice Cap Zone theme when sped up, parts of Carnival Night Zone sound like Jam, Knuckles theme sounds like the beat from In The Closet.

I think a guy who actually worked for Sega confirmed this.

Just a weird bit of Jackson trivia there.

Very True.

One of the people in charge of developing Sonic the Hedgehog 3 revealed in a interview that at one point Michael Jackson composed the music to Sonic 3Jackson wrote music for the game, however the same guy stated that Jackson’s music had to be replaced, at great cost. The reason behind
Jackson’s replacement was because MJ was in a full sex scandal when the game was in development. Sega panicked and didn’t want the scandal to have negative effects on their game. You see some of Jackson’s tracks and cord progressions made it into the game which you have already stated. The mini-boss song has actual voice samples from Jackson.

They might have lied about the music being replaced, theres too many similarities with Jacksons music throughout the game, and you're right, I forgot to bring up the samples, some of them were very obviously taken from Jackson songs, theres a voice sample from Jam that's clearly used in the game.

I don't think any of Jacksons music was used in Sonic & Knuckles though, which was meant to be the second half of Sonic 3 but was released as a seperate game due to time constraints, but I think some of Jacksons session musicians worked on that game's soundtrack as well, since Jackson was probably gonna do the music for it too, apparrently there actually are some scraped songs that Jackson wrote that can be found in the game through a code.

Your right for the most part
but with MJ you never know because you can't believe everything folks say.
I can't remember the name of it now but back like in maybe the late 80's early 90's there was a Michael Jackson smooth criminal game lol similar to the video.

I enjoy reading your posts not just here but through out the forum because your view points are well put together and you seem to exactly know what your talking about. Also, you dont act like an ass and pressure your opinions on others unlike alot of your peers here do.

I remember that game. I'm pretty sure it was called Moonwalker like the Michael Jackson movie it was based on. I think I might even have an emulator copy of it somewhere.

You're talking about Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, there were two versions of it that were pretty much different games, one for the Sega Genesis and one for the arcades.

The plot of the game is, Michael (with the aid of his trusty chimp companion, Bubbles) has to save some kids from a crime boss called Mr. Big, and how does he defeat his enemies? Why, with the power of dance of course. He can also shoot pixie dust and turn into a robot, no seriously.

Genesis version

Arcade version

Ah memories, I used to have the Genesis game.
