I agree that in the scheme of pop music it's good, but I guess what I don't understand is why someone would pay 75-150 dollars to see him in concert? Do you think it is just to see what he looks like now?

I think it's because at this point he's such a pop music icon. It's like people who went to go see Elvis in his fat Vegas days. They just wanted to be able to say they saw him in concert.

hmm, interesting point.

I guess that makes sense because if given the chance I would cough up like 75 dollars to see the Grateful Dead in concert, even though they are probably completely awful right now.

I'm trying to think of who I'd pay that much money to see. Definitely not Michael Jackson or the Grateful Dead. Maybe Brian Wilson. Yeah, I'd definitely pay $75 to see him, not sure if I'd go as high as $150 though.

The sad part is he's known more nowadays by the stupid things he does. I mean, dangling a baby over a balcony? REALLY? I know people can be stupid sometimes but that was just beyond that.

have you ever really listened to the grateful dead though. I think a lot of people just dismiss them as hippy ****, but they definately have a few gems, like truckin' and china cat sunflower.

Brian Wilson is an interesting choice, wasn't expecting it from you I guess, he has a killer voice though.

It's funny, people always ask me if I've ever really listened to the Dead when they get the sense that I don't like them. But the answer is yes, I think I've given them more listens than any other band I can think of that I'm not a fan of. They have some songs I like, such as "Dark Star", but overall their music doesn't really do it for me.

Hmmm... what's your impression of my tastes that you wouldn't expect Brian Wilson of me? I'm just kind of curious what my preferences come off as on here.

Well, Jacko's tickets were £50-£75 which is about $70-$100 I think? Maybe a few dollars over. So, they werent quite that much but it's still very expensive. I wonder if he would charge more if he was to do some gigs over there too?

Why are people paying it though? It's really very simple, the tickets may be pricey but for a lot of people (myself included) it will be their one and only chance to ever see him live. That matters more than whether he would be good or not I think. I'm not going by the way, but it would have been my only chance.

Ah-ha, so it is the fat Elvis scenario after all!

You do knock about the metal threads a bit.
