Thats NOT true and I have proven that to you on numerous of occasions!! So why do you keep saying it? Stop hating. Michael wrote almost over 100 songs when he put out his albums and narrowed it down to a number. He wrote 98% of BAD. He wrote 98% of Dangerous. He wrote 95% of History. He wrote 50% of Thriller and Off the Wall and Invincible. How dare you compare him to Elvis. So you will call Michael a manufactured image a man that has been performing on stage since he was 5 BUT The Beatles werent? The Beatles are poster children for manufactured image which is why they are always constantly compared to pop acts like the Jonas Brothers, Justin Bieber etc.. And PLEASE PLEASE dont sit here and say The Beatles wrote ALL their music.. there not STEVIE WONDER LOL

Somebody else compared to him Elvis I was just replying lol. And I don't think many compare those you mention to The Beatles. Stevie Wonder didn't write ALL of his music, for instance he covered The Beatles "We Can Work It Out". Anyway Michael Jackson or Stevie Wonder while they both wrote some very good songs are not as acclaimed for their songwriting as The Beatles. And I never said The Beatles wrote every single song they sang, but they wrote most of them and on their classic albums all of them. And I don't care if someone performed on stage since they were 5 or not. Most artists are not in complete control of their image at the start, that develops later often.

Thats a BIG fat lie. Where are they not known for being songwriters? They both have written for other artists as well as their own material. They have received accolades for their songwriting.

No artists writes 100 percent all their music so I dont understand why you feel the need to keep bringing that arguement up. Stevie Wonder wrote 99.9 percent of his music and he is very well known in the industry for being a great songwriter and I am quite sure you know this you just want for some reason to make yourself look foolish

Stevie is one of the greatest songwriters ever so who told you that lie about him not being known for it? Or are you just biased to black artists in general and seemed to cant give props but only to white bands and what white American has brainwashed into making you believe? Just because Stevie covered ONE song doesnt mean anything. Majority of the songs that he has sung he has WRITTEN HIMSELF not to mention he PLAYS all the percussion and instruments in his music. He plays over 20 instruments. While the Beatles are known for their popular songs during their era, Michael as well as Stevie are much known for writing their own songs than the Beatles. The ONLY Beatle that gets that credit is John Lennon and Paul individually Ive never heard of "The Beatles" as a group getting that credit.

@ realtalk92
I think the key word you missed in starry's statement was "not as acclaimed."

As far as pop albums go, Thriller is about as good as it gets: it didn't hurt that a few members of Toto (possibly the most technically skilled pop band on the planet in all of musical canon) were there at every step of the recording and songwriting process either. Thus, the whole "there was Michael Jackson and there was everybody else" idiom is actually true to an extent. xD

I never said that Stevie Wonder didn't write most of his music, but you suggested he wrote ALL of his own music.

I never said that Stevie Wonder isn't known for songwriting, as well as other things. Where we differ is that you consider him one of the greatest songwriters ever, along with Michael Jackson, and while I think they are very good I wouldn't put them up there at the very top.

It's ironic to me that you mention me as being biased to black artists, as you seem more like that :D. I don't care what race someone is or whether they are from America or not, unlike some people here lol.

And The Beatles do get credited by people all the time. And anyway even if I just took McCartney I'd still say he has done more classics, as well as being productive over a longer period.

Few people know that Michael Jackson outbid even Paul McCartney himself as well as John Lennon’s widow, Yoko Ono, to own the coveted copyrights to the Beatles’ music.

You said they were not as acclaimed as being songwriters which ISNT true. And if you feel their not that great(which is probably why you made that ridiculous subjective statement about them not being acclaimed) then I really dont care but I am not going to sit here and allow someone to say things that are opinions and pass them as objective comments.

No. Michael still owns it.

starrynight 06-20-2011 09:55 AM

I never said they were not acclaimed, I said they were not AS acclaimed. You seem to have trouble understanding what people say.

Jackson sold some of the publishing rights to Sony, he owned only about 50% at his death. He never got royalties for the songs, they still went to The Beatles, and he never owned the recordings. The fact that he invested in The Beatles showed that he recognised their major long term importance in that he thought it would be a good investment.
