Jacksons songs are truly timeless and still good to this day. Very unique.

No matter what he did in his private life (I am in the 'he was a paedophile' camp btw) there is no denying his talent when it came to making music. His singing on Dirty Diana is some of the best vocal work I can recall hearing, each verse was like a slow, emotional build up until the release at the chorus, I swear every time I hear that song I get goosebumps. Its a shame he tarnished his legacy with his other affairs and some of his weaker releases later in his career, but at his peak he was simply out of this world.

I really like some of his later releases which ones are you referring to in particular?

Just recently heard the song he recorded for "E.T. The Extraterrestrial" when it was first coming out. The song is called "Someone in the Dark," and it is just a beautiful number about friendship and what it does for people.

HIStory was a bit hit and miss I thought, and I didnt like Invincible one bit in all honesty, it was so far from the MJ that I like. I adore his stuff he released on Motown, probably moreso than the Off The Wall to Dangerous era stuff.

Just phenomenal.

Sales Figures: Michael Jackson Keeps His Crown & Keri Hilson Gets Knocked Down

The Holdiay sales rush is finally over and with so many crazed shoppers abound almost every artist emerged as a winner. However, no other Urban act won a spot higher on the consumers’ Christmas list than Michael Jackson.

The King of Pop’s ‘Michael’ album remains the only Urban release in the Billboard 200’s top 5, slipping from #3 to #5 with sales of 150k units. This figure represents only a 34% decrease in sales, allowing Jackson to accomplish a narrow lead ahead of Jamie Foxx’s ‘Best Night of My Life’ which debuts at #6 on the lineup with 144k copies sold.

Keyshia Cole enters the top 10 this week at #9 with ‘Calling All Hearts’ selling 128k units. Still, the R&B singer’s call didn’t sway enough hearts to help her to outperform Nicki Minaj and Eminem whose albums sold another 133k (down 36% to #8) and 137k (up 100% to #7) copies, respectively.

Keri Hilson, on the other hand, missed the top 10 completely. While her ‘No Boys Allowed’ sold 102k copies, managing to outsell previously released ‘In A Perfect World’ by over 8k units, it failed to keep up with Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ which grabbed the #10 position. The Bajan’s LP experienced a 33% increase in sales, selling another 111k copies.

8. Michael Jackson's Complicated Legacy Lives On

QUOTE
Quote:
With great fame often comes great controversy -- and if you're Michael Jackson, the drama even follows you to the grave. The King of Pop released his first posthumous album of new material, "Michael," in December, but before fans could even get excited to hear the songs, the legitimacy of Jackson's vocals on some of the tracks were questioned by his own family. (His estate has repeatedly stated that they conducted exhaustive research to conclude that the vocals were authentic.) The controversy still lingers even after "Michael's" release -- it's vying for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week -- but no matter how you felt about the music, you had to listen.

My sister bought me HIStory when I was still a kid and I listened to it then, although now I consider it the weakest material he ever produced by a long, long way. It's actually a little embarrassing. Invincible was an album i warmed to actually, I think it's much the better record. Not fantastic by any means but it's decent.
