Favourite 50's,60's Pop!

To my dismay. The search button didnt gather any conclusive results for me, and I am too lazy to scavenge through all the pages of my results. So here I am making a new thread on favourite 50's / 60's Doo-wop, swing, rockabilly, Crooner era style music.

Its very straightforward. Just list your ten favourite artists / groups, and songs!
I'll start things off.

1.The Crows - Gee
2.The Dell Vikings - Come go with me
3.Five Satins - In the still of the night
4.The Penguins - Earth Angel
5.Norman Fox & The Rob Roys - Dream Girl
6.The Monotones - Book of love
7.The Passions - Gloria
8.Lewis Lymon & The Teenchords - Honey Honey
9.The Diamonds - Why do fools fall in love
10.The Charts - Dance girl

:thumb::thumb:

Of course there are a handful more that i would like to list. But that is your job!

well I love the Frank Sinatra and Jo Stafford stuff of the 1950s...but I'm more into the 1930s and 40s. The music is all so pretty and makes me wish I lived back when that music was popular! My friend went into a cd store to buy a Dean Martin greatest hits cd and asked the store clerk for help, and the kid was like "who's Dean martin?" Like seriously?!
I think that song Stand By Me came out around the 50s or 60s...that's one of my all time favorite songs :) So sweet!

I always wondered what type of music was happened between that time. I know they had swing type music in the 20s but the 30s and 40s always seem like a blur then it just jumps to rockabilly in the 50s.

I have some random tracks from Gene Vincent, Dale Hawkins, Roy Orbison and Eddie Cochran. There were downloaded for a show I put together that focused on songs from different decades.

Jazz, swing, and big band music was big in the 1930s and 40s :) Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire were pretty big in the 1930s and then Frank Sinatra got big around '39 (if memory serves me right).

Oh, do I need to put songs? I'm not very good with that... I'll end up repeating bands and stuff.
I love 60s girl groups (The Ronettes, especially, I love Ronnie Spector's voice so much)... And then I like some others, The Crystals, The Shangri-La's, The Shirelles, and then... I always liked the song Angel of the Morning by Merilee Rush and the Turnabouts... I hope that that's the name. One hit wonders ftw?
