Purplish Rain
SPIN magazine released a tribute to Purple Rain to celebrate its 25 anniversary. Of Montreal, Chairlift and a bunch of other indie artists covering 9 Purple Rain tracks. I loved it, to get it you have to answer a question you would know if you read the magazine article, but its easily googleable. Heres the link:

I remember he was sued by this nfl player a few years back. He rented the guys house then he painted the walls purple and added a few prince symbols.
I liked the sharon jones song. I think I saw her and the daps in ottawa at the blues festival. I was there for like half the set, but my cousin wanted to see the steve miller band-and he paid for the tickets, so I had to watch the steve miller band...while cat power was playing at the other end of the field..damn. half the songs I got don't work..but what I heard was cool. |

I have to say this was much better on the whole than I expected it to be. I loved "Lets Go Crazy". "Purple Rain" was alright, but definitely didn't come close to Prince's (though who would really expect it to), and it seemed off beat in some spots, almost like they were singing the lyrics to fast or off time. But like I said, as a whole it was pretty great and I'll definitely be keeping it to listen to again.
