She has a pretty strong voice, I agree with Aww Sugar on this one. But most of all I believe people like her and the President likes her because of her independence and songs that support and stand up for women. She is a role model in that respect, she's sexual yes but in a way where she can do it for herself and other women to show women you don't need a man to own your sexuality. I know I'm not making a lot of sense here but hopefully you understand what I mean.

I disagree but to each own. lol I am a young woman and someone who wears revealing clothes and makes immature songs talking about bitches and being hustler doesnt represent female empowerment to me. lol

Singers like Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae and Erykah Badu does it for me (musically) speaking. You can own your sexuality and be sexy without being too revealing and coming off like you HAVE to do those things to sell. I think Beyonces image is calculated and contrived. I dont see how someone who constantly dresses half naked and sings about explicit things is a good role model for women. To me she shows that you HAVE to have a pin up look and be overly sexual to be called "sexy" which is a false representation that unfornately has been exploited in the media for YEARS when it comes to women

Adele and Jennifer Hudson have strong voices... thats my opinion though

On top of the fact that she is a role model, she respects herself and she respects others.
You don't see her doing disgusting things or putting down other women like many female celebrities do.

Just because you CAN own your sexuality without showing off doesn't mean you have to do it without showing off. There's nothing wrong with being sexy. And my issue was that if someone has a problem letting their kids see the half-time show of Beyonce, then nothing about the entire program was appropriate for the child to see according to the parent.

The amount of overly sexual and inappropriate commercials was at a high, in my opinion. I'd rather my kids see the half-time show than a majority of those commercials. Especially the Go Daddy ones and many of the beer ones.

I think a would take more positive experiences from the show than they would from any of the sexist, racist, disgusting commercials that were on this year.

She has threw alot of her peers under the bus by insisting that she is "The Queen" and she even ahd the audacity to say has worked harder than anyone else in the music industry including past legends. She is very very very conceited (and does not hide that) and not humble at all (despite her innocent persona she puts on).

She takes herself way to seriously and she doesnt have the talent and catalogue to back it up.

How is a married women with a child who wears revealing clothing and makes immature music about having sex and calling women bitches and men having big dicks respecting her self?

How is someone like that even a role model to young girls? If I had a daughter, I wouldnt want my child listening or watching Beyonce music videos.

I never said that there was anything wrong with being sexy but just simply argued that you dont HAVE to wear skimpy clothes to BE sexy which is what most women especially Beyonce in the media market.

The message she sends is very negative to young girls and women. She markets that you HAVE to wear slutty clothes to be sexy and to be attractive to men and you DONT. Thats why all these girls have low self esteem and feel like the only way to be beautiful is to wear slutty and revealing clothing.

I have seen a ton of beautiful/sexy women who are more sexier than Beyonce and they have never wore any revealing clothes.

If your sexy... you shouldnt have to TRY to hard to be sexy, that is not what sexy is.

To be honest with you, The Superbowl is a spetacle that is mostly geared to making money. Now I am not arguing that the commercials were not sexy either but to argue that there was nothing explicit about Beyonces halftime show is absurd.

Her songs were explicit, her clothing was explicit and her movements were overly explicit. All her performances are like that. I didnt even watch it on television and just saw it on the internet. It was so boring I could barely get through it. Just because the commercials might have had some elements of sexuality does not change the fact that her halftime was overly explicit.

Her halftime was even more overly explicit than Madonnas. If someone can get even more overly explicit than Madonna than that should tell you something.

Sweetheart, I think you're forgetting one thing here - every women is unique, and if they want to dress sexily or the want to be make-up free and dress conservatively, that's THEIR choice. You can't keep making boxes that people need to fit into.

I do not make boxes that people need to fit into.

I just simply argued that you do not HAVE to dress skimpy to be sexy which alot of young women and girls think because of how women are objectified in the media (which Beyonce contributes too)

Beyonce is a celebrity and does not represent women empowerment or what women should be because she is marketing a particularly image for money. (its not rocket or that science) If I wanted a female role model, I have my mother for that

None of you posters have given rational and objective perspectives just overly stannish bulley type posts towards people who you disagree with.
Its MY opinion you dont have to agree with it.

But you've got an attitude about it. You say we have a problem with your opinion but this is a forum, there are going to be debates about things. If you can't handle it then move along. It's not personal.

That performance was overly sexual?

when did prudes take over the U.S?

You could go to any cabaret show at any time over the last 100 years and see something similar.

Beyonce is lovely, and I really don't think she verged onto trashy for this. I think that there are zillions of people who are trashier than Beyonce was.

I can handle it but it just seem like the poster above was attacking people just because they disagreed with their opinions. Everyone doesnt have to like her SB performance.

I never insisted it was the most overly sexual performance of all time but just pointed out that the SB has made a big deal about explicit performances since Janets SB controversy in 04 and I just thought the media was being hyprocritical with Beyonces because he movements and clothing were explicit as well. Just because it wasnt the most sexually explicit performance of all time does not mean it was not sexually charged, some people even wrote letters to the NFL about it. The SB is a family event not the MTV awards.
