I don't watch American Idol regularly, but I caught this atrocious performance last night:
And yes, I have heard this guy sing other things and his voice just grates on my nerves. Way too screechy. |

Yeah, I heard about her being a mentor this week. I think she might actually have a lot to offer, from an entertainment point-of-view. A big part of Idol is how well a singer can entertain a crowd, and I think Gaga can provide some tips.

She does have a pretty good singing voice and range as well so it's not just about her ability to entertain a crowd

I do think Lady Gaga will actually be a very helpful mentor. I'm also pretty happy that they convinced the girl I'm pulling for to sing an unreleased Gaga song last week - because I feel like that's going to spill over into this week with Gaga as the mentor and get her some more votes!
Also, this chick - I was youtube creepin' and came across her pre-idol singing Pink Floyd, Sublime, etc. with her band - and one of her good friends in her band's youtube account is a Phish reference. So I'm pulling for the girl even harder now!

How can gaga mentor these kids when she herself doesn't have that amazing voice? I'm a big fan of her but I do accept that most of it is because of her support to the LGBT and her disco-anthem songs. But as far as the voice is concern, along with Rihanna and Britney, she falls on the category of hit makers who can't sing.

Oh, she can definitely sing. But I'm just saying that I think she will be able to help a lot with the entertainment aspect of each performance, since people seem to talk about how well she performs rather than how well she can sing.
The contestants have the voice; Lady Gaga will be able to help each of them bring out their own performance style. Gaga knows how to entertain, and keep people talking, so it will be interesting to see how each contestant uses her advice. |

I like the show.
It's still the American Dream. I love Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken's ok, Jordan Sparks is ok, she's got some lungs, Daughtry is good. I love Paula Abdul she's going to X Factor of course and she's a judge but she's still got it. I'm quite frankly amazed at the talent they've introduced to the world. I hope American Idol is forever.
