I like the Lightning Seed's "You Showed Me". It stayed true to the original, but modernized it. I'd say its perfect.

Divine Fire- show must go on
Wounded- smells like teen spirit |
Rod Stewart - Downtown Train - YouTube Yeah, musical purists will have a problem with that. But if it were an original, I think most people would agree it's good. |

That Staind cover is new to me and good, but like the Aaron Lewis cover of "Black," I can't call it "pop.

Free Fallin
I agree with some of the others.
I LOVE John Mayer's version of "Free Fallin'" |
I like Joan Jett's cover of Sonny Curtis' "Love Is All Around"--which
was also covered by Sammy Davis Jr.! The original version was used as the theme song for the old "Mary Tyler Moore Show": [/QUOTE] |

Tough call, but for me I'd have to go for 'Step On' by The Happy Mondays.
Just because it is such a marker of the Mondays' success and the vibe of that time, yet it's a cover and not much of a development on the original. It's almost as if John Congos made the track and put it in a time capsule to be used at the right moment late. |
