She's cute - I'd like to go to the high school where the Plain Janes look like Taylor Swift - she writes some catchy albeit simple tunes, and she's EXTREMELY successful.
Plays guitar probably about as well as my 9th grade Religion teacher. Row, Michael.
She's banned at my local Country bar, requesting her will get you, at best, a sour smirk.
Not sure why, I think if they played more current Top 40, the crowds they get on Fridays and Saturdays might improve. Probably some of the cranky, crusty, frustrated old guys getting to the owner is what it is.
Don't think I've ever heard her 'unplugged', so I can't say how well she can actually sing or how her guitar holds up without six studios worth of backing tracks, haven't bought any of her albums,.
She would be completely unknown if she looked like Rosie O'Donnell.

She is a genius when it comes to promoting her image and her music, and I respect her (even if personally I'm not crazy about her content) as an artist, simply for how far she has made it. She worked hard to hone her craft and get where she is. This is all coming from a person who would definitely not be a characterized as a Taylor Swift fan..

I'm a huge fan and have been since Love Story. IMO her lyrics are some of the cleverest I've heard, second only to Elliott Smith.

I'll be honest guys, I listened to "Shake it Off" last night for the first time, and I actually really liked it. Thinking I should listen to the whole album.

Do, most of it is well worth it. SiO is actually one of the weaker songs (as compared to Blank Space or New Romantics, anyway). For God's sake buy the deluxe edition, because the "bonus" tracks Wonderland and New Romantics are far better than some of the material on 1989 itself.

I am afraid I have to completely disagree that Taylor Swift is a country singer and belongs in this forum. That's like calling Ariana Grande a jazz artist because there's a saxophone interlude in a couple of her tracks.
