Camille Dalmais

UPLOADS ARE AVAILABLE

I submitted her song into the comp, so I couldn't make this

Amazing pop/chanson/a capella artist out of France. I'm sure she's well famous in her home country, but she really should be more famous around the world. She beats out all of the other female pop artists of the past two decades as far as I've heard.

Camille was a student of political science before quitting school in 2002 to pursue her musical career. She signed with Virgin Records and recorded her first album 'Le Sac des Filles' to small success. After working with other artists for a while she recorded 'Le Fil', meaning 'The Thread', in 2005, her first large success in France. Le Fil is a concept album based on one note: B. A consistent drone of that note is heard throughout the album and shows how much she can do around it's basis. Her newest album 'Music Hole' features the most English speaking vocals of any of her albums, probably due to her growing fanbase in English-speaking countries. Definitely her most versatile work, she shows her impressive range and soul in this one, definitely the place to start.

So, any other people heard or admired her work?

Just some advice for your English: it would be her album Le Fil and her first buzz, as she's a girl, not a boy.

I'm glad there's someone from France on the board! Is chanson very popular there?

Do you talk about songs in general or about Camille?

Location: France

I could open a new Radiohead or Oasis thread, but in my little head, i imagined that it could be more interesting to talk about some French artists i love, than opening a new thread about US/UK artists that every body know.
