The Divine Comedy (pop, discography, irish, solo, classic)

After much deliberation I have come to the conclusion that The Divine Comedy are the quintessential British 'Pop band' despite the band being a primarily solo venture for Neil Hannon who just happens to be Irish!

The bridge between classic pop music structure, British whimsy and offbeat humour created one of our most distinctive bands. The more I listen to their music, the more I realise that music has a distinctive dual media role.

I hated this band the first time I heard them 10 years ago. I absolutely love them now.

I realy don't get it sometimes

. This guy has more talent and humour in his left finger than a 100 British guitar bands (I can think of a couple straight off).

I've tried getting into him a few times but nothings doing. I'd probably still agree with your comment in the second post though

I only have Victory for the Cosmic Muse, which isn't a highlight in his discography from what I'm seeing lol, but I like it. The material is catchy and well thought out; I'll be looking through his back catalogue when I finally outplay the new Cursive album.
