Lady Gaga

Since the last thread was deleted, and I want to talk about the video below...

Lady GaGa - Just Dance

You've likely heard this somewhere before so I'll cut to the chase. This sound comes across as a throwback to that terrible club **** they had on in the early 90's. The major difference here is that Lady Gaga seems to have a tounge-in-cheek approach, knowing how foolish the club life can be, and knowing to put actual lyrics in here rather than stopping at a rough sketch of a plot like the early club music had at the dawn of the 90's.

At the days end its a pop song. And its not your indie-acceptible pop either, this is unabashed materialistic pop. But its ****ing good. Maybe its because of the nostaligia, but I embraced this song with an expansive wingspan.

I dig it too, but I have to admit I have a soft spot for pop music that makes me want to eat some Ecstasy.

'Now That's What I Call Music 78!' beckons you, Lady Gaga. this junk comes and goes all the time, boring. Typical white girl-singing-into-a-hairbrush given the autotune treatment

how many billions of weeks will this be number one do you think

Fruitonica 01-26-2009 06:23 PM

I think it's a great song, probably my favourite pop song I've heard in 2008. Supremely catchy and danceable, which pretty much sums up the aims of the music.

iksosept 01-26-2009 06:24 PM

don't like it.. at all

Farfisa 01-26-2009 07:59 PM

Just to clarify, I do like pop, but I hardly find this catchy and or tolerable.

seems to be the foreign kids that can't get it.

Molecules, what are you talking about? What 70's about this?

Molecules 01-26-2009 09:16 PM

by 'white-girl-singing-into-a-hairbrush' I meant to imply that she can't sing without studio trickery designed to keep vocals in tune for the radio. I mean listen to it. Without a unique and identifiable voice she's just another electro-pop peddler with another silly wardrobe. And she can't even keep that from being post modern and f*cking ironic like everything else

edit: and it sounds like Cher's late 90's comeback album (famously doused in autotune to make it sound what-was-then 'modern'/clubby/robotic

i.e. SHITE
