that has nothing to do with Lady Gaga.

Maybe people just aren't interested in those artists so there is no need to reply to them.

lawl I wouldn't go that far

generally the more popular the artist the less technical they are.

So the better artists are the ones that are unpopular.

Agreed to a point. Albeit I do not believe talent = technicality, even if I do respect technicality. Also, I believe that technicality can allow artists to do much more than they can if they just stick with the same ideas, but only if the chose to. Doesn't mean untechnical artists can't still be ingenious.

For the rest, Can't I just feel that if Gaga honestly isn't doing anything new, there's no point in bumping this thread?

I mean why go to a forum like music banter if you're not actually willing to explore or talk about new music? The kind of which there are very few other avenues to explore? Why not just tune into cable television where this **** gets shoved down your throat 24/7?

Dustin Hoffman and John Travolta declined the role for the same reason. When Al Pacino was considered for the role of John Rambo, he turned it down when his request that Rambo be more of a madman was rejected.
Al Pacino = God

i know i'm getting a bit too far though with my previous statement but i'm always amazed why some claim that a certain artist/musician is so great technically yet nobody recognizes them? more so, they don't even get to be on any kind of top chart list.

Gaga started out as a nobody but with her style of music, everybody immediately recognized her technicality thus the reason she's on top right now in the music industry.

Gaga had a lot of money to begin with. Being popular isn't that hard. I mean, you just need to find out what the mass wants and then feed it to them. But you need to have money and connections to do that. Being a popular musician has nothing to do with art.

you are right talent doesn't equal technicality but what I meant is that less popular artists are generally more talented whether they are more technical or they think outside of the box to create something that's unheard of.

The reason that nobody recognizes them is because they don't want to give up creative control to get a major label deal.

Sure they might not hit the top of any charts but their art is more diverse, sometimes more technical and just generally away from the normal standard of the radio formula.

I really like Lady Gaga's new album, I'm surprised it sounds pretty different then her first album, sounds pretty edgy, especially for a modern pop album.

If you don't like this thread being bumped don't post in it.

To say Gaga is both copying and just trying to be original all the time is contradictory and makes no sense. Actually she isn't that original, but then no music is completely original and most music offers little that is actually new in style. It's more about whether it is just any good in that style or not. Arguably most of Gaga's music isn't.

Music is always created for an audience / a market, why else would recordings be made and shown to people and sold. Some music is more limited in it's formula for a certain part of it's audience, but that can be true of all genres from metal to electonica to bubblegum pop. That music isn't always popular though, it may be for a niche audience sometimes.

I would say the most popular artists are normally technically good. Most people (even more so nowadays) won't easily put up with someone who doesn't sound perfectly in tune with perfectly produced sound. Technicality of course is not really a very deep way of judging an artist.

It's true that being popular is helped alot by marketing, but that is the same for famous rock and indie musicians as much as pop ones. And some popular music is good, some is bad. Perhaps there is more good less popular music because there is simply alot more of it out there.

So what is the point of this thread for those who don't like most (or in some cases all) of Gagas music? The answer I think is that it is not just about Gaga but about music in general.

Lady Gaga is one of those few artist nowadays that reaches to her audience using raw and pure artistic approach in music. love her so much
