Lady Gaga is one of those individuals that falls into the "so consummately bland that I don't really give a fuck" category for me, and combined with the fact that I stay the hell away from modern radio, I feel as though I've been spared a great deal of bullshit and needless hatred towards my local radio stations.
Maybe I'm just a bit too weaned on good pop-oriented stuff and the like, but I don't think I'll ever really understand what's so catchy or interesting about GaGa's music. Everything about her seems forced, derivative or an attempt to cash in with one ignorant demographic or another. On another note, if she's going to bother to include sax in anything, it better get some serious goddamn screentime. >:/

God, I remember when Big3 (he had still killed his raindog or something at the time) posted this, and I thought this thread would reach a quick death.
Interestingly, it is still going and the same arguments seem still to be going as well (is she talented or just a copy-cat). I'm bemused.

it's more of like reinventing herself with so many different influences and i bet Madonna was one of her influence. in the music business, no matter what everyone says, the ultimate goal is always money. Music is suppose to sell. And if publicity is the key, then publicity is what you should be aiming. aimed with exceptional entertainment ability, all hell break lose. |

the age old debate where hipsters proclaim that music is art and so what if it doesn't sell it's better to be true to the craft than to ~sellout~
while reasonable people know that artistic integrity can't pay bills and artists may not set out to initially make a quick buck off of their art but sometimes it's necessary to do so to get by and making a living. the whole starving artist cliche is bullshit and it really sucks to live that way.
