When you make it more than about just the music you have to expect people to judge it on that too. The reason people are bringing up unrelated stuff is because that unrelated stuff is what she uses to get attention. Without that she'd just be one woman putting out disposable pop music with thousands of other women doing the same thing and probably getting a fraction of the attention & hype, if any at all.

This encapsulates my entire point almost too perfectly. Albeit, yes, in retrospect my persistence is a tad embarrassing.

My four year old was singing the chorus to bad romance this morning... I think that could be attributed to fact that every fucking time I turn on the radio that song is on, and it's catchy, like a disease. Without a cure. I hate pop so much for that reason...

I think that even if it's a bit unrelated music wise, she still is a musician, so talking about her is still kind of considered music banter, no? |

I see what you're saying but like I said above, hating someone with such a passion should be contained ever so slightly.

I think the line should be drawn when people get so passionate in their hate about something that it's not even a conversation anymore. I feel like that always happens here and in some of the other pop threads. Like there are reasons to like and dislike a person. Disliking them because they're popular shouldn't be one of them.

Tried listening to some of her stuff again, and I guess she's just not my thing. It actually made me notice that Pop seems to lack the atmosphere that I look for. When it does have it, it's usually too much and it ends up sounding like a ballad. Such a delicate balance.
