I have heard the name Lady GaGa, seen the magazine covers, but I have never heard any of her songs until now. Sounds like standard pop music to me. Nothing remarkable about it. I don't think the music is bad, I just don't think the tunes are memorable. By that I mean, 20 years down the line, I don't think anyone associate Lady GaGa with the great music of the '00 decade.

I decided to listen to the acoustic versions of her songs and she sounds like a lounge act that you would see in Vegas or some hole in the wall bar in LA. Srsly.

She sings a song about liking to give head, what's not to like?

I love Lady Gaga. "Poker Face" and "Like it Rough" are two of my favorites. It's an excellent CD, and she pulls inspiration from all over, the CD is collection of different sounds.

I've always seen her as a Marilyn Manson of pop music. People seem to either love her or hate her, she admits to her influences, can sing (but uses sonic trickery to SUIT the song in question), has charisma, great style (which IS original, just not new, there's a considerable difference), she writes her songs which contain sarcastic commentaries on fame love and money), wears ridiculous amounts of makeup, and she loves David Bowie.

...I like her. x)

I don't get the whole comparing-her-to-others thing. Or indeed any comparisons of any artists. People are inspired, and there's nothing new under the sun, people are going to be similar no matter how hard they try, and all these "original" acts just get to certain ideas first is all.

hehehe, you misunderstood me, i stated that her approach to and uer role in the way she performs her art was similar to that of Marilyn Manson's, merely in adifferent light such as pop music. it's an impartial observation as opposed to saying that one artist is copying offanother and stating it as negative. you are right though, i should have phrased it better! xD i should have said i don't understand why people accuse her or accuse anybody of copying when there is nothing new under the sun, and that there can be similarities, not just absolute and intentional ripping-off.

Just on Lady Gaga topic, what do you all think of her new Paparazzi video? It's like a mini film I think it's fantastic. Really conceptual, almost freaky!
