Hmm, since this is in the "Pop" forum, my number one choice would be Judy Collins, although she's more in the folk tradition. Petula Clark is right up there, too. As for most "modern" pop singers, a hard pass from me.

They definitely have that timeless pop vibe, even if they're more folk-leaning. I totally get the "hard pass" on modern pop sometimes it’s all about that golden era sound
