At first I thought Katy Perry was trying to rip off Lady Gaga's look at the beginning of her performance. Then Christina Aguilera performed...good lord.

I don't know Christina personally, but I'll take a shot in the dark and say she's not really all that classy. If you put a bow on a turd, it's still a turd. Just because she upgraded her look doesn't mean much. I mean look at Courtney Love...for a while she looked all cleaned up in her designer dresses, but she was still a crack head.

But enough of that...Katy Perry. So I was kind of warming up to that song "California Girls". It's not all that, and let's face it, anyone could have made it, not that unique. But it's catchy and easy to dance to. So as many times as I've heard the song, I never realized she was saying "Sun-kissed skin so hot we'll melt your popscicle..." And I don't know why, but that really turned me off of the song all together. I just don't like that lyric. I dunno.

I understand your point though, but i feel aguilera has been like this for a long enough time to justify shes actually changed.

the song is infectious i work in leisure so they play the radio over and over and obv her song has been on tons. and i liked it for a good while until id heard it a million times in work I still like her music though. i just wish work wouldnt ruin music for me :(

"California Gurls" reminds me so much of Ke$ha's "Tik Tok" =.= Whoaa whoaaa whoaaa


It's still catchy, though. I find myself switching between both songs.

I feel like that line saves the song because California Gurls is so generic that anyway could've done it, but that lyric adds the quirkiness that I love about her other songs.

I am totally getting the Ke$ha vibe from California Gurls but it reminds me of Your Love is My Drug. They're meant to be good friends so maybe they've been swapping ideas! The video looks like it's going to be great; it's got a candy theme and Katy goes nude! I wonder who came up with that theme?!
