ahh! my qouting didnt work out very ell did it...

sleepy jack 12-18-2004 10:15 PM

I like MCR anyone got a problem with that?

Raine 12-19-2004 12:41 AM

I like my chemical romance. And it helps that their gutarist is cute as hell.

Over and out.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 12-19-2004 05:23 AM

I don't think they sound a bit like good charlotte... I don't get why you'd start up this thread  If you don't like them, fine, but I doubt you really need to start up a thread about it.. Anyways thats just what I think.

People listen to my chemical romance because they do have talent (Otherwise they wouldn't have got that far) and they play a type of music that some people like... No different from any other band/

covle 12-19-2004 05:39 AM

damn good question. damn good point about the chinese stars
loved by the people that hate good charlotte. i think your onto something here frost. they hate gc and simple plan for "selling out". yet my chemical romance and bright eyes are playing at the same shows they are. could a fan of such bands explain this?

spearmint 12-19-2004 06:56 AM

I actually fail to see the point in this thread, but...yes some people do like my chemical romance...maybe expanding what the threads about...cause now your just gonna get "I do"'s and "I don'ts" pretty boring

Oi_To_The_World 12-19-2004 10:37 AM

shouldnt this be in the emo forum?
^anyway yah the point of this thread is obviously what you said, to see who likes and who hates.
they got the whole gothrock kinda thing going on, and they're from new jersey so im assuming they probably listened to the misfits growing up. how does everyone compare these guys to AFI? and in terms of goth punk in general over the years? either way, i dont like MCR or AFI, but at least the topic can go in a different direction.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 12-19-2004 11:35 AM

I don't like gc or simple plan because they sold out, I just don't like their music. But, I like my chemical romance because I like their music. Tis that simple... Why should bands be grouped together in a genre because of how many people are listening to them? I dont get it.. How about you explain that?

sleepy jack 12-19-2004 12:36 PM

See i said the samething

I don't like them...now I know which ones they actually are.

and they grouped as pop music because they sell alot of records, therefor they're POPular

David Frost 12-19-2004 04:50 PM

i listen to alot of bands that tons of people listen to. that doesnt make them bad. however, when you are really bad and lots of people like you, you are really bad. it would be the same if this band was really bad and no one liked them. the fact of the matter is, there are REAL emo bands playing right now and touring that are amazing and talented, and these assclowns wearing girlpants and makeup are making tons of money and ruining the definition of emo.

spearmint 12-19-2004 05:09 PM

No...you had to go and say it..."REAL emo" you know that'll start an argument

Emo isnt restricetd to the tunes of yesterday, these present songs bands are producing are emo as well.

i am not emo 12-19-2004 06:26 PM

^ just wondering thrice, are you saying that mcr are like the white stripes musically? or the whole 'got far because they're talented' thing?

Jack White is one of the best blues guitarists working today.

when did gc/simple plan sell out? havent they been consistent from the beginning. i wouldnt know honestly, cause i never paid too close attention to them from the start.

anywho, frost, i dont understand yer thinking. cant you think of millions of artists out there who probably doesnt deserve their status in the mainstream? MCR is just one of them, at least in yer opinion.
funny though, i saw them on conan too, and i remember turning the channel. sometimes looking away is the best thing to do

Zealious 12-19-2004 10:10 PM

can someone tell me why people like Taking Back Sunday, Brand New, Yellowcard, etc...? Usually people don't care but when people start calling them emo its a problem

jibber 12-20-2004 03:41 AM

^ why is it such a big damn deal? if you don't like a band, don't listen. If someone is calling those bands emo, who gives a s*it? it doesn't hurt you, so let them think what they want.

franscar 12-20-2004 09:54 AM

People like them for the same reason some people like pasta and others like steak. Some people like chocolates and other people like apples.

Good for Jack White, his band still produces talentless music.

riseagainstrocks 12-20-2004 01:32 PM

I happen to like them. They do't sound like GC at all. their live show is exciting and they have good stage presence. I happen to like and identify with the lyrics. Their songs are very catchy and so that draws alot of people in I guess. I like them though.

riseagainstrocks 12-20-2004 01:34 PM

planesmistakenforstars

I thought you hated these guys Frost

David Frost 12-20-2004 03:02 PM

when did i say that?

White Stripes is a minimalist band. They're shooting for a distinct sound and they've attained it, and they keep it simple because that's what's not being done enough. It's not a talent show, it's music, and not everyone is out there trying to prove something.

I actually agree with him. Music doesn't have to be complicated to be enjoyed; however, I still think the White Stripes suck. Some bands I like are extremely simple, but I still think they rock. Ex. Rainer Maria, Volcano, I'm still excited
