get something straight n00bs. wanna know what EMO is?????
Emo is short for EMOTIONALLY CHARGED HARDCORE PUNK!!! EMO DIED IN THE 80's!!!!!!!!! Emo: Rites Of Spring Fugazi Hot Water Music Jawbreaker Texas Is The Reason Sunny Day Real Estate (list made by my friend, so yell at him if it's wrong) do you wanna know what MCR is? Dashboard Confessionals? The Used?Hawthorne Heights??????????? They're a new genre called a TREND!!!! They are not "emo", they are bands who are following a fad and trying to keep it alive by making crap music that is sure to attract these trend kids. And they succeeded. But these trend kids decided to take the genre Emo and erase the "ly Charged Hardcore Punk" so they can be "emotional" and listen to whiny bands to prove it. Guess what, they are not Emotionally Charged Hardcore Punkers, they are just trend kids. |
1. you are a n00b
2. Your list is partially correct |
I dont agree with him he said punkers.

I mean Sunny Day came out in like 94' or something and you have them on your list. Your "friend" is a hypocrite. |

But the fact of the matter is there are a lot more emo/emocore/hardcore emo bands that not many people on here mentioned. Bloodlined Calligraphy Circle Takes the Square City of Caterpiller Coulier I Would Set Myself on Fire for You Saetia Still Life Those are just a few larger ones (excluding Coulier) that have all (I believe) of their stuff in the 90's. |
A lot of music today is cross over due to the commercial factor. There's hundreds of music genres out there... all those sub-genres, wtf?! Music is full of people's opinions. Someone may think MCR arn't emo (personally, i couldn't give a **** if they are or not) and others will think they are. I'd probably go with the cross over idea. And due to the fact they've just broke mainstream, they're going a pop/rock route, no?

Mcr
Well, they're not really an emo band. They themselves are emo but, I don't know. They could be considered "post-hardcore" according to something on some aol site.
|
^Proof that aol is evil.
|
i don't even know what to say, the triviality of all this... i think i just puked a little. mcr appeals to some, not to others. as for classifications, fast paced, yes at times, poppy, at times yes, radio friendly, oh yeah. but really, their nothing special. theres so many sub genres and sub-subgenres that they intermesh, so much that its possible for bands to have elements from 5 or more genres, how the hell do you classify that? how about "listenable" or "un-listenable"?
just as an aside, is triviality a word? i'm not really too sure. |
