Pop-punk is such a loose term in regards to other sub-genres of music that I don't think it can be judged that way. I'm not claiming they're pop-punk for a second, I'm just saying that comparing them to one specific pop-punk act and saying that since they don't sound like them they can't be pop-punk is being a little too exclusive.
