Does anyone remember the notorious Blur vs. Oasis wars of the mid-90s? Whoops!...suddenly Radiohead came out of nowhere to beat out both of them.

Noel's been on record stating that after Morning Glory the drugs & partying began to take a toll on their music. I thought Standing on the Shoulders of Giants was good, but they eventually lost their edge, playing boring Beatles pop songs, instead of rockin hits like Morning Glory & Live Forever

He has pretty much called Be Here Now a sham of a record that he can't remember writing or recording, yeah. Thats why he enforced sobriety on the band for the making of SOTSOG.

I actually think that Oasis signed off with a good record too, in Dig Out Your Soul. Sure it may not be on par with their first two records, but I think its greatly overlooked.

Also the Oasis and Blur wars were just sad. Maybe somewhat interesting to witness at the time, as a 10/11 year old kid, but the bands were never alike and while they both do admit to throwing "punches" also seem to agree that it was largely media created.

I think "let there be love" is the most blatant ripoff of a Beatles song I've ever heard.

Ozthemonkey 07-27-2013 05:35 PM

Opening piano sequence has a sniff of Imagine (Not Actually A Beatle Song Mind You) The phrasing is total John Lennon style.

Well, their first two were great, but so it's Be Here Now, then they recorded some bores but the last two ones rules.

Silenzio 11-16-2013 09:32 AM

I like Oasis, but actually I like Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

Noel's solo works are allright, but I think that beady eye sucks...especially BE is awful. :(
