I think that it is a interesting departure from Oasis that we as fans actually have two completely different bands to listen to now! They both have their bright spots. First off I don't think that most people thought Liam's effort would be that good and as far as Noel they were probably giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah. I think Dig Out Your Soul was their best post-90s album, or at least, my favorite. I don't really think of Liam as a good or bad songwriter, though; his songs seem to be hit and miss. By that I mean he's written some really awful ones (Little James, Beatles and Stones) and some really great ones (Songbird, I'm Outta Time). Out of the songwriting band members other than Noel I was more interested in Andy Bell's writing, to be honest. I liked his work with Ride and it's a shame he rarely wrote songs for Oasis.
But back to Liam, I do think that alot of fans who prefer Noel don't give Liam enough credit. Yeah, Noel was the creative force behind the band, but I like to think that they were equally important. |

Well I'd say Heathen Chemistry is my favourite post-90s Oasis album. It has Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Songbird, Little by Little and Born on a Different Cloud. Close behind is Don't Believe the Truth with Lyla and The Importance of Being Idle.

Yeah! I think this is one of their most underrated songs.

B-sides Talk Tonight, Half The World Away, Angel Child, Idler's Dream, Cigerettes In Hell, Aqueise, Dyer Wanna Be A Space Man, Fade Away, It's Good To Be Free, Sad Song, It's Good To Be Free, just some of the quality songs that Oasis did not think were good enough for albums.........

It was their first album and - in my opinion - their best one. If it keeps your interest enough you can easily get into their other albums, explore the b-sides, post-Oasis stuff, etc. If not, well, then at least you have their best album! ^^ @NearDeathExperience - gotta say it's a shame some of those didn't make the albums. I agree with the opinion that alot of what was on the Masterplan should've been their 3rd album. Also, Listen Up is my favorite b-side. Although I think they still put out good ones after the 90s as well. |
