If they do, that'll be worse news than them splitting up. Especially for Noel.

I could see this coming but it's a terrible idea. It's not a complete lost cause like it would have been 10 years ago but it's still a bad idea. Even though Liam has been writing tunes for the last few years as well as Andy Bell and Gem both being songwriters I just don't think Oasis can continue without both Noel and Liam.

its so predictable & obvious, there brothers course the tiff will be over soon enough.. maybe he will be stubborn & just not reunite with them.
they would still be an okay group if they carried on without Noel.

Apparently Liam is going to start a new band whilst Noel goes solo. I'm quite looking forward to it, Oasis were becoming tired and stale. Noel's solo stuff will undoubtedly echo his Oasis ballads, so we know what to expect there - but Liam in a band other than Oasis? That will be interesting. With someone else at the songwriting helm (God help us if Liam does it) then it could either turn out surprisingly good or horrendously bad. My money is on the latter, but either way it'll be better than watching one of my all-time favourite bands pedal out another middle-of-the-road rock album accompanied by the stench of mediocrity.

Whether or not Liams attempt would be better or worse than whoever he drafts in to write the tunes on any futue releases remains to be seen as far as im concerned. He's written some poor tunes but also some really good ones in my opinion. He's written better songs than both Gem and Andy in their time in Oasis.

Is that really saying much? He's pedalled out one good song in my opinion, that being The Meaning of Soul. The moment Noel started sharing songwriting duties was the moment when Oasis died.

Out of interest Wolfie...at what point did they start sharing songwriting duties?

WolfAtTheDoor 10-28-2009 04:07 AM

Songwriting duties were shared between the group on Heathen Chemistry, but it was becoming more apparent that Noel wasn't the sole driving force around the time of Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants. People always dismiss Be Here Now, but it's a solid little album in its own right and the last good album Oasis pushed out.

I'm not so sure, being the huge fan of Don't Believe the Truth that I am and all.

I don't honestly expect much from Noel's solo album or whatever he does, as much as I'd like to. In an ideal world he'll hook up with Gaz Cobain out of the Amorphous Androgynous (who remixed Falling Down into a 22-minute psychedelic epic) and do something with him, and the fact he's confessed to being a huge fan of theirs does give me some sort of hope that he will.

The remix is on youtube for anyone who hasn't heard it by the way. The first two parts are here.
