Definitely Maybe is THE Oasis album to own if you are going to get something by them, thats for sure... everything good about the band is alrfeady there, and it has a freshness about it that they, sadly, never reproduced on later releases....

Agreed Oasis have never and if they get back together will never make another Definitely Maybe. Definitely Maybe was about being young, being in a band, touring and getting out of Manchester, taking drugs and living the lifestyle they wanted to live back then and for those reasons Noel himself has said he can't write another one of those anymore and if he tried it would be fake and probably piss poor.

I would like to see them make something that was arguably just as good but off in a completely other direction. SOTSOG had that potential but it just never really made the cut in that sense. They embraced maturing, getting older and flirted with a change of direction to some degree but the quality was never there when compared to the debut.

I still hope Noel tempts Gem away from Oasis and they do another acoustic or semi acoustic tour. I never got to see them on that tour but I got as many as those bootlegs as I could find - for me they just breathed new life into so many Oasis tunes that had been played to death on the road over the years. It was really beautiful stuff.

Is it just me or does Morning Glory sound kinda sludgey production wise too? Was that intentional, maybe? That being said there were times when I found the album's sound a bit too murky for my liking....

I think it sounds quite polished, actually. Production wise it sounds much more of a pop record than the debut which was maxed out and so sounds loud and a bit punky.

Well, apart from Some Might Say.

They'll keep going for a while, and then the brothers will kiss and make up and it will be all a big deal again... I can just see that happening... its the Oasis way.
