When I was growing up all the kids had to have a favourite, you were either a Blur or an Oasis kid.
as for the indirect I think it's unfair to start calling people pretentious snobs, I'm just really into music (thanks to bands like Oasis actually) and like to talk about more than just a catchy melody, sorry for offending your tastes
i didn't mean to offend you at all....

i wasn't really speaking of you in particular, i should have thought twice about making that post, but oh well, what's done is done....but from what little i've been on here i think there is a pretty even number of nice, open minded posters and know it all pretentious ones, I didn't mean to insinuate you were the latter. I have not hidden the fact that I am no musical expert nor do I have the time (even though I'd like to) to draw very critical or heavy handed arguments about such, I just wanted to have a forum to talk about what I like and what I don't....that's all....

No worries CP, I always think twice about trying to argue a point on a forum aswell. Nothing makes you feel quite so pathetic as getting into a protracted argument about some obscure band with a stranger. At 1 in the morning. When you have work in 5 hours. urgh. Good vibes all round then xx

Holy **** this Oasis thread is still going. Why do people care so much about an average radio band.

It's hard to take many later Oasis singles seriously when considering them in light of Definitely Maybe. You start to realize the degree to which they obsessively and determinedly rehashed old melodies in the hope of making a hit. You can even hear flashes of Definitely Maybe songs as early on as What's The Story. For this reason I think their best singles ought always to be seen as their earliest album work. Much of what was to follow was really good all the same, though.

Even though they've not had a decent album in almost 13 years they're still one band I would love to see live.
