The one thing I remember from both of those albums was that they were remarkably consistent. And in the 90s, with the kind of music I both had access and was exposed to, I found it strange that an album should contain any more than 3 good songs max (the rest filler). So by all accounts, I found Oasis a revelation. And so vastly superior to mostly everything else in the mid-90s Britpop scene.

I think the new work is absolute derivative self-aping bland mechanical effortless garbage. It makes me embarrassed to like them at all. They've broken new ground in the rehashing department, not only repeating their own lyrics in some songs but the exact same melody that went along with the lyrics in the base song. I bloody hope they don't do another album.

The first album is killer and is one of my favourite debuts ever. The second has some good and some bad. After that they got themselves into a rut , that they have never really got out with. The B-sides album was good too. Will have to get that I think.
