yes they are an old 90s band with catchy mainstream pop music
i totally forgot about them until recently & i have to admit, their songs are really good particularly "i want you" & "crash & burn" guilty pleasure i suppose

Savage Garden rocked! :P
They would have been one of the first bands I developed a liking for, back when I was a young lad. Parents use to play them constantly. I loved their debut album, but never really got into Affirmation, other than the few singles it had. Since the breakup, I never got into Darren's solo stuff. |

Darren Hayes eventually decided he was gay and married a man. Kind of cheapened those hit Savage Garden ballads.
"To the Moon and Back" and "Crash and Burn" are underrated and somewhat forgotten, whereas those ballads are overrated. Darren Hayes wrote and sang very emotive lyrics, especially for a pop singer. Savage Garden possibly was the best band (a duo, really) to be exported from Australia to the USA in the 90's.

I love them. I still dig a lot of their songs but my favorite is Santa Monica. They used to be a big deal for me as a child and I've been able to appreciate them even more now than I did as a kid. Their two albums were honestly fantastic with quality lyrics and great instruments accompanied by flawless vocals.
Break Me Shake Me, Tears of Pearls, I Don't Know You Anymore, Affirmation, and The Animal Song are other notable favorites of mine. |
