Bump.

I really like the new album, Actor. I don't think it quite stacks up to Marry Me, but it comes extremely close. There's a lot of disjointed harmonizing, and very impressive instrumentals.. on a few tracks it sounds like she's backed by a full orchestra. And of course there's annie's beautiful voice to enjoy..

^ yes. maybe it's because i've listened to marry me for a long while now, but Actor is just not as catchy. But apparently its more worthwhile, as its more complex, but we'll see.

oh we'll see.

Rarely does a follow on work but it's a great album I have to say.

Her music is pretty good. Like this song is awesome:

YouTube - St Vincent - "Actor Out Of Work"

and the lyrics are really cool as well, but this song is highly annoying:

YouTube - St. Vincent - Jesus Saves, I Spend

I feel like it would be perfect if it was shorter because the hook is a bit repetitive. And I feel like if I download her album, I will listen to it once then press a razor to my wrists because all the songs will be too long and too repetitive.

Actor I could understand not being able to stand.. it's all over the place, but that second track you linked is from Marry Me, and that's a fine album with plenty of variation.

I'm with Dreadnaught. I find her music very easy on the ear personally. If you want to hear repetitive try Elizabeth Anka Vajagic! Definitely an acquired taste!

er, pop? try indie/alt. this is about as indie as singer/songwriter can get.

anyway, actor's a good, if not necessarily a great, album. pity u gave up after 5 tracks adidasss, the best song is the 6th one.

jackhammer, how do you mean "follow-ups rarely do"? often bands produce their best work a number of decent-ish albums into their tenure.
