Jeff Mangum can actually (eloquently might I add) conjure up something which isn't trite. Plus Jamie T is a bindle stiff, thus shouldn't be allowed to call himself an artist. At least Disney would have an auspicious soundtrack. |

I've got to admit I don't agree with the comparison of Kate Nash to Lily Allen. Allen's album is really a pop-hop album; lots of production and "beats". I can hear the similarity in one or -maybe- two Nash songs (Pumpkin Soup, particularly).
Besides the obviously similar English accents, I think Nash's album stands quite a bit apart; piano-driven, quieter, more introspective. First time listening through Kate's record, the comparison I made was, "Ooh, it's the British Regina Spektor!"

Have any of you who insist Nash is just a rip off actually listened to the albums, or just go off of 3 bits you heard on CD UK? Anyone with two functional ears that actually takes the time to listen to the albums can hear that (beyond the accents and the -very- occasional touch of production) they are nearly worlds apart. Remember, there's nothing wrong with taking some time to make sure you have an (at least semi-) educated opinion!

I don't think Jeff Magnum's abilities can be compared to Jamie T's, they're both so different. I like both of them either way.
I don't particularly think Kate Nash is like Lily Allen, sure they have the same accent, but does that make Stuart Murdoch sound like Simon Neil? I like both artists, I don't own Allen's album but the odd track is credible and I think she has character. I think Nash has more talent, but she does seem like a one trick pony now the rose tinted glasses of the summer have come off. |

I'm just listening to Made of bricks and I quite like it. She's got a very good voice (reminds me kinda of Joss Stone) and there are quite a few very good pop songs there. Fun music...
Oh and I don't see any similarities between Allen and Nash to be honest...:\
