Mariah Carey's early stuff (when she was still doing pure pop, rather than generic "R&B-styled pop") is actually pretty great, IMO. "Dream Lover," "Always Be My Baby," and "Fantasy" were some great pop songs.
Britney Spears, despite being tagged as the poster girl for disposable pop, also had some tremendously catchy singles. Disposable, sure. Who cares? Catchy pop is fun, whether it is lasting art or just a quick fix.

I can't believe I'm even responding here, as most of these ladies are talentless puppets. BUT, Mandy Moore has done a decent job breaking away from the Pop machine, and has begun to record her own MATURE music (so, please don't tell me that Brittney sings her own music... there IS a difference). She's become more like Sarah McLachlan, and less like the others. Not to mention her "covers" album was full of interesting material from XTC to The Waterboys. Much more interesting than the rest.
