Jamaica is part of the West Indies along with Barbados so they share a lot of the same things culturally but they each have little things that separate them as well. Dancing is NOT one of them.

The point still stands that it has been going on for decades though and white girls twerking started a few years ago with white girls joining twerk teams so the while white twerking phase that you are referring to is also inaccurate. Sure that ridiculous thing that Miley attempted to do brought it to the masses that didn't know about it but it's been going on for awhile now.
