When I first heard them, I didn't know anything about the group other than their music, which was catchy but not very satisfying for me because so many of their songs sounded nice but seemed to lack emotion. Nice ear candy, but I wanted more from a song. I listened to "Girls on Film" again and *did* think, like Necromancer said, that it has a nice bass line. Quote:
Edit: "Skin Trade" - didn't like much. The singing reminded me of Prince, which I hadn't expected. "White Lines" - didn't like either. Kind of reminded me of George Michael's music. Quote:

well, most people do have terrible taste in everything.
Seriously though, Thank You is a worthless record, covers that are just laughable (see: 911 is a Joke, awful cover... probably have to explain it to many of their own friends, considering they are familiar with 999) They could have made it a lot better by picking songs that reflect their own style and in their own range, instead they picked songs that didn't fit their style. trust me, not an uncommon opinion, 9 out of 10 people will tell you it is an awful record. Really nobody should buy it unless they want it for sheer comedic reasons or are completists. Anybody who is a casual fan would be better of without it. One of the worst albums to come out of the 90's. |
"All You Need is Now" is a decent song, and I see critics rate the album as better than many of its predecessors. I don't think Duran Duran has made a great album since 1992, and that was the only great one since the original lineup fractured.
