Hall and Oats - you make my dreams come true.
Dunno much about it. it's catchy as, and i think its from the Wedding Singer.

explosions-in-my-pants 02-18-2006 04:21 PM

alot of Adam Sandlers movies have really old fun catchy cheesy like songs in them.. which is part of the reason why i like his movies..

Pink City 02-18-2006 11:02 PM

Yeah very true... Styxx - renegade, from Billy Madison, and Exile - i wanna kiss you all over, from Happy Gilmore... are awsome tunes.

percy333 03-12-2006 06:26 AM

Sir Droopy 07-14-2006 08:12 PM

Very radio friendly songs & Daryll could really sing, my fav song is I can't go for that

Twistershift 07-16-2006 01:16 AM

It makes me kind of sad to realize that I heard these songs on the radio first, and not in an Adam Sandler movie.

boo boo 07-16-2006 02:06 AM

Don't know about Hall, but i love my Quaker Oats.

Tee Hee, you=thread winnar!:)

zekethefreak 09-11-2008 01:38 AM

Yeah, a truly "guilty" pleasure of mine. I think Daryl Hall has one of the greatest voices in Pop music. Oates was kind of a load... and that mustache??

Minstrel 09-11-2008 12:36 PM

I'm not a big fan of Hall & Oates in general, but I think "Maneater" is a surprisingly good pop song. Of course, it's from my childhood so there's probably a huge nostalgic element to it.

Piss Me Off 09-11-2008 01:28 PM

I can't go for this thread.

Whatsitoosit 09-11-2008 01:35 PM

They made the elusive use of "that" popular way before Meatloaf showed up. I dig me some Oats.

(sin)TAX 09-11-2008 02:34 PM

Hall & Oates own. 'nuff said

jackhammer 09-11-2008 02:44 PM

I like some of their 80's stuff as it was around when I was growing up and it is likeable enough.

Maneater.
I Can't Go For That.
Method Of Modern Love

are all perfectly respectable MOR tracks. Nothing spectacular but listenable.

Thrice 09-11-2008 06:43 PM

Youre a bitch girl.

RockGuitar101 09-25-2008 04:39 PM

I wonder where they are now?

Whatsitoosit 10-03-2008 11:13 AM

I'd like to think they are both on some tropical island staring at the ocean and clinging their Pina Colada filled glasses, with very satisfied smirks on their faces.

Davey Moore 10-12-2008 02:29 AM

I reject the whole concept of Hall & Oates to be honest.

Fyrenza 10-14-2008 06:28 PM

^^^ Oooo! Harsh!

i had forgotten about H&O, but i love "Maneater" and "I Can't Go For That," too. Going to have to load some on the 2b to listen to.

Bulldog 10-24-2008 12:23 PM

All I've heard of Hall & Oates is Daryll (sp?) Hall's appearance as a guest vocalist on Elvis Costello's 'the Only Flame In Town'. The song's ok. Hall's got a good voice, I'll give him that

asahd3 11-02-2008 07:05 AM

H2o

One of my favorite Hall & Oates is the H2O album and my favorite song because of the girl it makes me think of is Kiss On My List, but One On One is cool too.

The Boy 02-08-2009 07:15 PM

I'm curious about Hall & Oates. Is there any record in particular that anyone could suggest to me?

Keigh 03-18-2009 09:57 AM

Still one of my favorites duos from the 80s. I bought the live video from their Maneater tour. Great musicians. I got to play in a H&O tribute band yrs ago. Alot of fun. But Hall stole his vocal schtick from Todd Rundgren who produced at least one of their earlier 70s albums.

If you want to hear some good albums try anything from the 70-80s especially:

H2O
Private Eyes
Big Bam Boom
Abandoned Luncheonette- earlier 70s work

PinkCigarette 03-20-2009 01:57 PM

Private Eyes was my favourite song from them. I always forget which one is Hall and which one is Oates. Whichever one is the darkhaired one, he looks like a guy I used to know. I mean, EXACTLY like a guy I used to know.

Saturnine 03-25-2009 04:03 PM

There's a Best Of out there, with not a duff track on it. 'Out of Touch' is probably my favourite track.

yomaster 04-06-2009 08:06 AM

I did not know them that well but always thought they were talented. Then I randomly won a 2 disk set of all their hits and I was blown away. Tons of great tunes and a lot of songs are great that I did not previously know where their tunes. Songs from way back that I recognized but didnt know the artist. Cool group.

As a longtime fan of Hall & Oates, I was curious to listen to this album. It’s great hearing Daryl’s signature voice on these great songs. I find myself humming that first song all day! The album is out now and here's the info about it:

Legendary singer-songwriter Daryl Hall just released his 5th solo album called “Laughing Down Crying”. The new album feels fresh and current while still maintaining Daryl’s signature style and amazing songwriting.
You remember him as the lead singer of Hall and Oates and now he’s back and better than ever! Hall & Oates are considered the “Number One Selling Duo” in music history and have such hits as “Rich Girl” and “Private Eyes”.

Lately he’s been busy making waves as a “tastemaker” for up and coming talent as music host and executive producer of his smash hit web television series, Live From Daryl’s House. You can check out his shows on the air every Saturday and Sunday (check local listings).

On his newest album, you’ll see that his voice is still as incredible as it was on “Sara Smile” many years ago and it’s an album that you can pop into the CD player and listen to with your kids. The songs are soulful and catchy. He partnered with some incredible producers that have worked with such artists as Jennifer Lopez, Billy Joel and Ricky Martin.

You should listen to samples of Daryl’s newest songs from the new album and then buy it on itunes or Amazon!

I work for Miles Of Marketing and this information was provided to me by them. We are a group of moms passing along great information like this to other moms!!!

I liked him well enough to check out his latest.

Save Me," "Message To Ya" and "Eyes For You" on Daryl's album, "Laughing Down Crying." This album was released on September 27th, 2011 on Verve Records.

Daryl Hall's show is getting a lot of airtime on music television. The guy seems highly respected by other musicians.

Personally I think most songs by Hall & Oates are enjoyable fluff. I prefer the more meaningful songs like "Don't Hold Back Your Love." (Although the mostly downbeat 1988 album is lousy, in my opinion). My favorite song by the duo probably is "Family Man" - dark story and great guitar.

LvDrumn 06-24-2019 02:31 PM

They were huge back in the 80's...had a ton of radio airplay.

I have it on record and cassette and its excellent sounding :)

Captain Beefheart 06-25-2019 07:57 AM

Prior to seeing them 2 years ago I coulnd't tell you more than 2 songs off the top of my head. I was actually going to see the openers. Then Hall and Oates came on and played like 15 songs I knew, I just didnt know it was them.

Dude111 07-01-2019 12:31 AM

I love FAMILY MAN on H20 (I am so glad Bob Clearmountain didnt work on that album!! -- otherwise the record/cassette wouldnt sound good at all!!)
