Got it.
A while back I said parts of the album sounded beautiful. Someone else said it was ugly and supposed to be ugly, all the way through. Just got back to listening to it this evening and I've got evidence to back my case up! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYBxEQquAzM Jump to 12:38 That sound downright pretty. In a melancholy sort of way, but it is beautiful. And it sounds like Dir En Grey, but nobody want's to hear me smear this album so I'll shut up. |
Fair enough, sorry. I just don't like people trying to psychoanalyze me through a music forum.
Have you guys seen this? |

But on the wider internet, it definitely seems like people only accept a comparison if they don't hate the thing their favorite band is being compared to. But I hear all sorts of weird musical connections sometimes. |
I think people tend to forget how musically open a lot of artists are. They can be influenced by and be appreciative of a lot of artists outside their genre or medium. Most artists don't sneer and deride other bands like internet pseudo critics do.

I'd say that I aspire to evolve into a musical attitude like that of Ted Gioia or Rick Beato. No negative attitudes about any genres. Just being able to hear any music for what it is and be able to see the craftsmanship and artfulness, regardless of personal preferences.

Absolutely! I grew out of the "I like everything except for rap and country" phase a long time ago and I believe I have become wiser for it. I think that even the worst pieces of music have something to offer.
|
Now that's the kind of attitude I wish more people had about music

I will gladly take a steaming dump on "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" and I don't care how much of an ******* I have to be.
