Got it downloaded. Might listen tomorrow.

Man is seriously a dope banger, listened to it a few times in a row, but Ladies Hit Squad is probably the worst song I've heard this whole year. It's that bad.

Goofle 05-06-2016 03:29 AM

Worse than half of Drake's new album? Some seriously HORRENDOUS tracks on that.

I don't mind that but yeh, one of the worst on this. Nice to get some bars out of D Double though.

Man >>>

Downloading now. High expectations, hope it delivers.

There are some big riddims on this album guise  The title track is superb, Skepta seems to have stepped up his rhyming ability a bit, using skippier flows than usual, and the content is decent for a Grime album too.

A couple of bad decisions on here (stupid interludes) but I like this, it's improving the more I listen to it. I have the album sussed now as I've given it about five listens, will vote over the weekend when I'm certain of its rating.

Maybe the best release since Playtime Is Over/Maths & English.

Don't get me started.

Voted, looks like this could be the first number 1 Grime album.

Sorry man, that already goes to Boy In Da Corner. Unless you mean something else by number one.

Cuthbert 05-12-2016 01:04 AM

First Grime album to top the charts. Dizzee has done it with Tongue N Cheek before but that was a Dance/Pop kinda thing.

Agree on BIDC.

Edit: Dizzee's was #1 on the RnB chart not the main chart (3) so nobody has done it.

Obviously you haven't heard Hungry Ham from A$AP Ferg.

Currently listening to this, will come back when finished.

Some of these tracks are sweet (as already mentioned, Man is easily the best cut on the album) but some are pretty meh, Text Me Back in particular. Enjoyed it for the most part though, and it's pretty awesome to see just how much exposure this album has been getting.

Cuthbert 05-12-2016 09:01 AM

Tracks 1-4 are really good. The last two are ruined by pointless interludes. Track 5 is ruined by the hook, it fizzles out in the middle but then it picks up again 8-12.

It's a good album, Skepta's production is as good as it's ever been on here, but it could have been a great album were it not for some silly decisions. Still, I'd say it's probably his best release.

djchameleon 05-12-2016 10:13 PM

Ladies Hit Squad isn't too bad. It is pretty much a radio tune and sounds similar to most other trap that is coming out lately that is super popular.

Close!

Congrats to Skeppy

He got a pretty solid review from Fantano too.

Cuthbert 05-14-2016 01:05 PM

Cheers for posting, good review.

I just gave this a serious listen.

I think it’s good but overrated. Like a lot of hop that the critics love (and this made quite a few end of the year lists) I just think it’s a little dry.

Maybe there’s no reason to compare the two but I like The Streets much more than this.

This is just a little too direct on the nose inside the box imo
