Not a masterpiece, not even close to Good Kid, but a solid 4/5. Can't wait to see this man perform.
|
It's definitely better than GKMC. That album is an absolute snooze fest aside from a few tracks.

There are a good few tracks on here. I would say it is on par with GKMC. 3/5. I just loved Section. 80 and neither in my opinion come close to section. 80.

For sale? - Interlude is really cool

album of the millennium

Kendrick
What a ****ing incredible album. Kendrick always puts his heart into his music and it shows which I love in an artist. I respect his efforts at trying to shed light on a corrupted system and his strong language an metaphors are really captivating.

I loved this album.

I'm not super big into hip hop, but I'm certainly open to it. My roommate showed me Good Kid M.A.A.D. City and I absolutely loved it. The whole end of that album is incredibly moving. So I was pretty stoked for this album, and I have to say it didn't disappoint.
I just really, really appreciate Kendrick as an artist. His lyrics are very honest and interesting, and it really makes you think about things you might not otherwise have considered. And the music to the songs themselves is fantastic. All in all, I think it's an excellent album and I can't wait for the next. |
I'm on "S" right now, so To Pimp a Butterfly is coming up soon. I'll finally get to hear the album everyone is raving about. I wonder if, in my mind, it'll live up to the hype. I preemptively rated the album 1 star just to be safe.

Why would you rate it before listening?
|
Because everything else he's done has been a strong 1 for me. Just covering my bases. ;)

one of the few positive conscious hip hop records i like

Just saw Pitchfork's top 50. TPAB is #1.
|
Excellent Album. Kendrick has shown constant improvement with each new release.

I think this is a decent album. Not perfect, not album of the decade, or even last year for that matter. It's a bit inconsistent and I wish there were more tracks like The Blacker the Berry, Wesley's Theory, and King Kunta. Oh, and I love These Walls - it's clever :jailed:

To begin with I'm a metal head Listened to rap here and there but never got my attention..
I somehow stumbled across Mr.Lamar a little while ago and decided to invest in his work in buying my first rap album from him. By God was it worth it. He's absolutely amazing and I respect his and every one that collaborated on this album to the fullest :) |
I don't care about this album. I'm just posting because I'm ****ing sick of seeing that thread "listen to this fire new song!" At least this will remove it from my most-recent-seen threads.

Your so quirky for that

Literally a perfect album.
