I'll rate this album since I'd been waiting for quite a long time...
Since you rate from 1 to 5, I'll do it that way. So there u go: Xscape - Michael Jackson (2014) Standard Edition 1. Love Never Felt So Good - 3,5 2. Chicago - 4,5 3. Loving You - 4,5 4. A Place With No Name - 2 5. Slave to the Rhythm - 1 6. Do You Know Where Your Children Are - 1,5 7. Blue Gangsta - 3 8. Xscape - 4,5 Average - 3,06 Deluxe Edition 1. Love Never Felt So Good - 4 2. Chicago - 5 3. Loving You - 4,5 4. A Place With No Name - 3 5. Slave to the Rhythm - 3,5 6. Do You Know Where Your Children Are - 4,5 7. Blue Gangsta - 4,5 8. Xscape - 5 Average - 4,25 Bonus Track: Love Never Felt So Good - 4 Final Average - 3,77 Second album (original demos) is much better than the first one (contemporized versions). Some tracks from the Standard Edition are way too different from the original versions what is quite annoying. But the Deluxe Edition is worth it. My final average is 3,77 so I'll give a final score: 4

I've only listened a bit but I actually liked it. I was a bit skeptical because of the album cover admittedly, haha. But its Mike, I tend to like most of his stuff

Ehh, thought I'd posted in this before. I hate to bump it up but it really is a good album. I dig most of Jackson's work. The man was a perfectionist and it shows in a lot of his tunes. Not a lot beats the Dangerous record for me, but as for XSCAPE, I feel like it's fair to his legacy. I'm not going to rant about people making money off of him, etc, etc. So, here goes.
The music is good. The sound is good. The production is alright. I remember when some of these released before the estate took over and they sounded raw, intimate and brilliant so for a while, I kind of boycotted some of the songs on this album. But I've come to terms with it and yes, some of these after they were edited around to sound more "professional" or "studio" were kind almost bordering a synth-pop vibe? But I like it. A lot. And I understand they have to do what they have to do to the music. I just like having a shred of Michael's music. 5/5 for me. |
