Pearl Jam - Lightning Bolt
I'm surprised there is no rating thread already for this album!
1. Getaway 2. Mind Your Manners 3. My Father's Son 4. Sirens 5. Lightning Bolt 6. Infallible 7. Pendulum 8. Swallowed Whole 9. Let The Records Play 10. Sleeping By Myself 11. Yellow Moon 12. Future Days It is still growing on me but this is the first album of theirs that has disappointed me a tad. Definitely prefer the previous one, Backspacer. I'm not a fan anymore, but I will always appreciate Pearl Jam for introducing me to the rock genre. Up until then it was the mainstream hip-hop road as a young teen.
The problem with Pearl Jam is that they've always remained stagnant, their sound never changes. The first few tracks I finally believed, "wow, this may be the album that changes all that." Then after My Father's Son they regressed back to their old ways and the excitement vanished. 3/10

Very surprised by this album. I've never been a Pearl Jam fan. Couldn't even get into 'Ten' despite trying numerous times. They were like the polar opposite to everything I liked about grunge.
But this album has some tracks I genuinely like. They sound more authentic and less forcedly emotional and strained than before, with (to my ears) stronger and catchier melodies. Mainly the harder tracks, the slower/more ballady ones I wasn't feeling. 6/10 |

I voted 7/10
I quite enjoyed the previous album, being one of my favs by them (even though my friends seemed to not like it as much), but I think this one was a step back from that one. It has, nonetheless, some good track and I enjoyed Mind Your Manners, Sirens and specially Future Days |
