I've been listening to this album more and more lately and I gotta say I think the critics here are being a bit harsh!

First of all, "Aura" is beautiful. She comes in with kind of war-mongering vocals at the beginning, and when the "Do you wanna see me naked lover?" @ 1.42 comes in the song completely changes it's tone and it really has depth, a great first track. When I first heard Aura I immediately felt like the album has some substance. I'm not sure what kind of substance. But it's solid. Anyway anyone who likes The Fame or the Fame Monster should like "Aura." Just my opinion, I guess.

My next favorite track, Venus, is like everything good about Aura x 1,000,000. This song actually has hilarious lyrics that are fun, slutty, and feminine all at the same time. I love this song and her vocals are actually really likeable somehow. I can't believe any Gaga fans would hear this song and be like "oh, it's garbage. Nothing compared to her earlier stuff." Really?

Also, best rhyme ever: "Saturn. Jupiter. Mercury. Uranus. Don't you know my ass is famous!??!" I'm sorry, but "Venus" is total love. Haters gonna hate, tho.

Now for "G.U.Y." New and exciting positions! The best thing about this song is that it's really hard to understand what gender/identity she is singing about at any given time in the song. It's really fun to listen to because she wants to be the girl under you (G.U.Y) but guys are, of course, stereotypically on top. She also talks about "wearing the tie" and "having control." So all in all, in addition to being super catchy, the song is interesting. I never get the sense that anything is forced, I just really think she has an intriguing and fascinating thought process going on here. "I'll lie down face up this time."

I've already raved about MANiCUIRE in other parts of this thread but holy hell, is this song amazing. Maybe it's just personal for me, but I think it's really freaking fun! It's kind of like a cheer and it rocks. I could totally see the music video with a really spunky cheerleading squad and I think that kind of upbeat bubblegum dancey track was something sorely missing from the "Born this Way" days. And what's a MAN-CURE anyway? Sounds like something I want! Definitely the catchiest song on the album for me. Again, it's just straight up fun. Who would complain about that? Dubstep outtro is totally awesome, too. We all need a few dubby outtros now and then, right?

"Swine" is another instantly lovable track for me. Catchy chorus, accusations about men, it's my cup of tea. Squealing is a funny thing to sing about. You're so disgusting! is also something I don't think I've ever heard in a song before. Edgy.

I don't have too much to say about the other songs on the album -- they've been mentioned already anyway. The point here is that ARTPOP actually has something for every Gaga fan in my opinion and to listen through once and be like "it's sh*t" is kind of funny to me, because I literally feel the same way about this album as I did about "The Fame."

Maybe it's just my untrained ear or kind of gullible personality. I'm easily tricked into liking stuff if it looks and sounds good, I just don't think about it too much.

I rated 4/5 thinking this roughly means 'good' but well poll results make me think 2/5 might have been the thing representing 'good'

This album is great, but my expectation was too high, because gaga's past songs were e.x.t.r.e.m.e.l.y great.
