It's so interesting that we both like the album and have completely different ideas as to which songs are best! And even the feel of the album as a whole!

Just finishing giving it a first listen. Pretty interesting, especially since I'm jumping from College Dropout territory to Yeezus (haven't heard much else). Not what I was expecting at all, sonically it seems interesting but I'll have to listen to it some more to say whether it sticks with me or grows old. Sounds like he has something to say, too...well at least sometimes! And it's only 40 minutes long, which is a huge plus for me. I get so tired when every album is an 70 minute epic. Definitely pushing me to go back and listen to everything of his that I've missed.

I was not anticipating liking or even listening to this at all, more or less because of my dislike of Kanye as a person and the consistency with which his older work has underwhelmed me, but my god am I digging this album. I wouldn't consider it a monumental work in general but it is damn enjoyable.

It does seem to be a strangely compelling album for me as well. Even though others have pointed out that Kanye has never really been a great MC, this is definitely his worst album in that department. His raps are complete TRASH on this sometimes, but yet it all adds up to a very enjoyable project. I really think this album is a satire of fame and commercialism done from the standpoint of someone who is at the height of their career with their ego at the same place.

I wanted to hate this album. After all, Kanye's public persona is notoriously ridiculous and most of his previous albums are lackluster at best -- despite what Pitchfork may say. Also, this album is, on the whole, an exercise in racist button pushing and general offensiveness. However, if you can get past all that, it's a damn good album somehow.

I downloaded the album a few days ago. It's worth a listen. Kanye does a great job of consistently bringing us something new. "Blood on the Leaves" and "Black Skinhead" were the standout tracks for me. But I'm pretty much over the album at this point haha.

Is that your favorite track on here, Vanilla? Or is it Blood on the Leaves?

I believe she mentioned that it was Blood on the Leaves but she could have changed her mind I guess.

Definitely Blood on the Leaves. I think the quality of production, the sample and his aggression in this track really does it for me.

Hehe nope but Black Skinhead is basically the next most favourite. I'd say I will be listening to this album for a long time.
