I was pleasantly surprised by this album. Funky and with some great songwriting. My only request is that the didn't use so much vocoder, because those moments were cringeworthy and they're everywhere.

Lose Yourself To Dance is easily the best track, but the whole record just oozes epicness.

goodness this album is awful. Half of the songs are unlistenable (Game of Love, Instant Crush, Lose Yourself, Beyond, Fragments of Time) and another quarter are decidedly "meh". Giorgio by Moroder, Doin' it Right, and Contact do not an album make. I thought they couldn't do worse than Human After All but this comes damn close

2/5

Are you sure you listened to the right album?

Well that's why I asked. "Vocoder auto fellatio" really doesn't make sense when talking about RAM. I mean...I don't know. Keep in mind i'm one of the people who doesn't understand most of the negative reviews about the album.

did you hear what they did to poor Julian's voice?

like, the robot voice is so corny in this album that it reminds me of Eiffel 65. it's not even "acceptable disco-corny", it's just bad-corny

To be fair, it is a Daft Punk album, not a Julian Casablancas album. So I don't really have anything to say for that.

I don't think it's corny at all, I find it to be exactly what Daft Punk have been creating since they started.

It's also what you come to expect from Daft Punk though, isnt it? It's not like they have never done that before.

i think you're talking to me but the key difference is context; prior albums were house records, where electronic overmanipulation actually kind of made sense. vocoder-rape just doesn't work with half-baked disco IMO
