He's gotta win everything, doesn't he?

Kanye can get both markets though, can't he?
I think he appeals to hip-hop fans and pop fans.
No doubt someone will say 'no he iz mainstream bad Kanye' but it's true.

I can't say I'm much better though, honestly.

It did have appeal for certain Hip Hop fans, that's true, but, considering myself a Hip Hop fan (both pop and mainstream) I think it did hold as much alternative- or pure-styled Hip Hop as it seemed to for many listeners. The lyrics weren't as deep as alleged, nor was the concept strong, or the beats particularly boundary-pushing, for the genre or even just Kanye - it was standard fair considering his past releases.

I would say the album was good, but pales considerably in comparison with what it was told to be. It seems very apt to be a masterpiece in this day where Drake is called good rap music, for many of the same reasons, really.

From what I heard it sounded like he was going for a classic r&b sound... and he seemed to succeed in some cases - but there was a fair bit a filler.

But Stevie & Al Green are hard to top, but I will say that at least 4 or 5 songs off of Channel Orange beats 99% of what mainstream R&B had to offer for the past 20 years or so. The fact that he succeeded in at least raising the bar counts for something in my book.

This album's still going strong for me. Definitely my favorite of last year

I didn't think this was a very consistent album, it essentially sounded like another mixtape to me. There were a few standout tracks in my opinion ("Thinkin Bout You", "Super Rich Kids", "Pyramids", "Lost"), however I really don't believe it is strong all the way through. If I could give it a 2.5/5, I would. But alas - 2/5

Album still works for me. Something fresh and different. Simplistic yet complex. 5/5

Forrest Gump and Lost are the best tracks. Pyramids and super rich kids are extremely overrated.

Can't decide on this one......but I'm still listening to it, so it must be good. Right? Saying that I've seen Bladerunner a few times and still think it's crap!
