I'm with you gentleman. No idea what the hype was for on this one.

I dunno, I loved this one. It felt so real and Ocean's voice is great.

Real and boring. I don't give a **** about honesty if you're sitting home on Friday night and eating microwave pizza. Have something worth rapping about.

But he never rapped, except for, like, once.

Ironically it seems to be the same people hating on this album as Good Kid Maad City and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
I don't find that to be mere coincidence, I think there's an active 'This album is bad because it contains mainstream crossover capability and is popular' brigade going about.
Me, personally. I think all 3 albums are great and I am not alone in that regard.

You're really obsessed with the notion that people who like different things than you do have some sort of ulterior motive aren't you? It's very odd. Does it occur to you that maybe the reason there's overlap in who dislikes those albums is that there's things the albums have in common? I'm not familiar with Good Kid Maad City, but speaking as someone who dislikes both Channel Orange and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy I find both albums somewhat aesthetically similar. It's an aesthetic I don't like so therefore not surprising I wouldn't like one if I didn't like the other.

no, I am pretty positive there are ulterior motives. Perhaps as a way of looking down at such music to favour the more obscure.
If you knew you didn't like that particular brand of music; why listen?
Surely it wasn't just to criticize something you already had pre-conceived notions about.
I don't particularly like metal, but I don't **** on every new release that gains a bit of media hype.

So when you write in your journal that you prefer some album I've never heard of over Dark Side of the Moon, does that mean you have an ulterior motive of looking down on popular music to favor the more obscure?

How would I know what it sounded like before I listened? In the case of both albums, I listened to them because they received such a positive response both here and elsewhere that I was curious about them. Turns out they didn't do it for me. It happens sometimes.

And? I do like hip hop and I don't shit on every new release that gains a bit of media hype. What's your point?

There is no crossover potential for Kanye, he is the epitome of mainstream Hip Hop, especially in this time for Hip Hop.
