I voted Poor. Absolutely a terrible album, and the single "How to Love" makes me want to drill a spike into my ears.
|
I wish he would go away.
|
He's yet to release anything that's even decent
|
Really guys? I think the album is at least "Good", it's thoroughly entertaining, even if not lyrically deep. Needs more listens though, I may like it less.
|
What does he have going for him? His lyrics are ass, he has one of the worst voices in rap, he can't rap....
In fact, this seems relevant. He doesn't even write his own music. http://i.imgur.com/J7ZZk.jpg |
Definitely better than Carter III. Not quite back on par with the first two Carters, though.
Also, to be fair, all of the engineering was listed under one line on tribe called quest, and they also had a smaller amount of producers. |
The reason for the large list of producers is because with this album he wanted beats from a wide range of people. He basically put out an open call for people to send him the hottest beats they had
|
He's a pop artist as well, don't forget. A lot of people need to make money of this, this isn't waynes pet project.
I haven't listened to this yet, but it seems like a lot of people who dislike hip hop in general are jumping on the opportunity to **** on this. Seriously "he's yet to release anything that's even decent" just makes you sound naive. That all being said i absolutely hate all the singles except 6'7 that I've heard. |

I'm going to go ahead and day on his behalf... that he has ghost writers on a lot of stuff. And regardless of whether he writes 0% of it or 100%, it's lyrically empty, and the puns and metaphors are eye-roll worthy every time.
BUT I saw guitarist Guthrie Govan on the Carter credits... and I *need* to hear whatever track has Guthrie going on. It could (and that's a big could....) be a Wayne track I can dig. Edit: Can't tell from the song credits what particular track I can hear Guthrie on. And I doubt he's on every track. Can someone let me know which track I should check out that may have Guthrie on it so I don't need to get the album? |

This is a good song. "hes a terrible person all around" is not an objective criticism. Lil Wayne has enough god-awful verses that lead me to believe he does write good amount of his own content. |
I voted good. It's darn entertaining

I also really doubt you have ever listened to lil waynes catalogue, but felt superior for dismissing him immediately. I'm saying he is mixed artist,he's constantly being overrated and underrated. This modern age, where artists can release so much music instantly, i think that it's something that will become more common. Your going to see more artists who have to stay eclectic in order to hold peoples attention, not that this is really new, it's just happening much faster. |

Now do you get it? |

How do you NOT get that? |
Because he has a thick skull.
So i actually got around to listening to this. It's surprisingly bad. Some good beats(the view from up here, megaman) but lazy delivery. Really good guest spots from everybody, but weezy is never on the same songs as them, almost like he's aware he can't keep up with them. Lil Wayne needs to get back on the codeine or something, this doesn't sound right. Lil wayne has been around for too long, he has to know this isn't up to snuff, it's just too poppy, it doesn't feel like hip hop. |
it's funny that you say that because everytime I listen to it, I skip over to those tracks that has features from Tech, Nas and Andre 3k to hear them over hearing him.
I do like the track Mirrors though and She Will. |
Yeah 3stacks absolutely kills it, how did wayne get all these guys to jump on his dick?
All of them have at least one line explaining their affection for wayne |
I only like some of his old stuff with the hot boys

I was surprised to hear 3K on the same track as Tech, since it wasn't announced at all. |

I haven't listened to either one but i can guarantee you they aren't as good as Carter III, Dedication 2, Drought 3, or even tha Carter 2.
Start with Ded. 2, also known as SICKIST MIXTAPE EVAR. |
Well maybe I should try giving one of those a listen. All I know is that I Am Not a Human Being and this album were almost unlistenable for me.
|
Understandably. Ded. 2 and Drought 3 were during his streak where he made so many mixtapes that he had to have something good, and those two are the highlights. No Ceilings is good too, it was a pre prison, post Carter III mixtape that was pretty hot, not in substance but for his killer punchlines and flow. Carter III has a good utilization of dynamic style in production and tone.

oh yeah, i agree with you completely then. I would totally hate wayne if that was all i had heard, really has been putting out bad stuff as of late |
Heard so much hype about this, not really a fan.
|
Watch the Throne outdoes this album by miles.
