Anyone expecting something like his debut was certainly disappointed with this. I don't agree that he made it too complex. Some moments are sparse and some aren't. I'm extremely excited what he will try for the follow up. And while I'm not a huge fan of Beth/Rest, I'm not going to kill him for using synths/vocoders. I think they work for the song pretty well.

Holocene was the only stand-out track for me, the rest was mediocre. I enjoyed For Emma, Forever Ago, but this was just boring.

Thought I would bring this thread back from the dead, seeing as the new deluxe edition of the album just came out. The album is accompanied with a video to match each song, if you are a big Bon Iver fan then this will be for you.

I actually think it to be a 2.5/5 album. Very average and not really interesting at all.

5/5...? Come on! We surely have to be a little more cautious when we review something as being perfect (which 5/5 surely means?) when it has not even had a chance to settle in its place in music yet.

I think perfect scores should be reserved for albums that have obviously stood some sort of 'Test Of Time', which this album may or may not do.

I know it is merely opinion, but we don't want future generations looking at this thread thinking this is a masterpiece. Seriously.
